Brett Shaw (Resident Producer, Engineer, Mixer)
Tracks Brett worked on have well over one hundred million plays on Spotify in 2018. A year which also saw him Co-produce Foals upcoming albums at 123.
The previous year was spent working on Florence and the Machine’s “High as Hope” album both here at 123 and out in L.A. One of the tracks- “South London Forever” which was Co-produced and Co-written by Brett, was picked out as album highlight by both U.S.A today and in a five Star review in The Times it was also streamed more times than any non single track on Spotify.
Other recent work includes recording and production credits on albums such as Lady Gaga’s “Joanne”, Florence and the Machine’s, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, (extended edition) and engineering on Clean Bandit’s “Rather be” which won the Grammy for best Dance recording.
Previous works include production for a track on Florence and the Machine's album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful- (Deluxe edition that went to number 1 in the U.k the U.S and twenty other countries album charts). "Rather Be" went on to become the fasting selling single since "Spaceman" by Babylon zoo in 1996 as well as receiving the most streams in a single week on Spotify ever! (1.09 Million, and 200 million youtube views). It was also voted 4th best song of 2014 on Billboard and won Best contemporary song and Most performed work at the 2015 Ivor Novello awards
Other notable work includes chart success with both his engineering and production work, with a top 20 album by Daughter (Engineering- If You Leave / 2013 won the Independent Album of the Year trophy / 2013 AIM Independent Music Awards) and a co production credit on Swim Deep‘s top 20 album album (For the track- Red Lips I know) as well as recording Eliza Doolitle on the top ten Disclosure single “You and me” and recording for her up coming album.
Following signing with his band South to Mo Wax records in 1998, Brett has been writing, performing, producing, engineer and mixing, becoming an established industry professional working with many of today’s top acts. A multi-instrumentalist and writer Brett also co-wrote the score to Jonathan Glazer’s film Sexy Beast and has secured a number of synchs including films such as Goal and major TV series including The OC, CSI and Six Feet Under. Recent commercial compositions include work for Virgin Atlantic, Barclays and Boots.
Being flexible with the type of music he works with, Brett brings musical integrity and authenticity to any project. His production style is unique and original with a genuine edge.
