If you book the studio you can stay in the main house (Nannerth Ganol), a Welsh Longhouse dated from 1555. It contains two double bedrooms. One is located downstairs at the back of the house, through the living room. It has a handmade 4 poster bed with a luxury, English vi-spring mattress, hand made to fit. It also has the luxury of a modern en-suite wet-room!
The second bedroom is located at the front of the house, with views down the valley. It contains a large kingsize bed, this room can also double up as a production room. The main house bathroom is located next to this bedroom. For larger groups there is also a kingsize futon bed in the studio.
Downstairs at the front of the house is a large kitchen/dinner with Aga. It has double french doors which open out onto the scenic valley. On a nice day, you can sit outside here have your coffee and write a tune.
The kitchen opens out to the cross-passage/hallway, where the front door and side doors are located, either end, this is typical of the longhouse, as it would have separated the live stock from the people - acting as a partition. Walk across this passage into the large living-room/live-room, and here you'll find a large inglenook fireplace, with wood burner, sofas, record player, and lots of records, a projector and large dvd collection. The living room also doubles up as a seperate live space and contains the Hammond and Grand Piano.
Nannerth Ganol was lovingly restored 25 years ago, and is featured in many books- as a house of historical importance, being one of the best surviving examples of a welsh longhouse.
For clients that are just looking to book the cottage and setup an ad hoc writing setup they can stay in Nannerth Fach a two bedroom cottage, which is situated just across our yard from the main house. It sleeps 4 people comfortably. Upstairs there is a double bedroom, with kingsize bed, wardrobe, chest of draws, bedside table. The other bedroom is a twin bedroom, with zip-and-link-beds, so these can be made into a superking bed. There is a new bathroom with shower over bath.
Downstairs there is an open plan living-room/kitchen, with low ceilings and oak floor. The kitchen is fully equipped, has a new neff electric hob/oven plus a solid fuel Rayburn. (you'll be ok if theres a power cut), a large comfy sofa, and a lovely wood burner, so you'll be cosy and warm. There is also a Bosch washing machine, small record player, a few games and dvds, tv etc.
If you require the whole site to yourself, this can be done (minimum booking 7 days). You will also need to look after the cat, and our chickens! They are pretty low maintenance, and you get lovely fresh eggs!
