Question de Son ('Question of Sound') Studio was born out of the sheer will of two sound addicts who challenged themselves to build the studio of their dreams.
In this central parisian neighbourhood, only 5 minutes from Eurostar train station and close to the Marais, trendy cafés coexist with Pakistani tailor shops. The street is a typical Parisian melting pot of cultures and styles. You open a tiny door stuck between two buildings, go to the end of a long corridor, pass through huge double doors and you'll find yourself in an impressive 300m² (3230 ft²) space dedicated entirely to sound.
Our studios are centered on a 24 channel(1093)-16 monitor EMI-Neve desk in studio A and a SSL 4048G+ desk in studio B, with customed TAD monitoring system in each. Add an equipment collection unequalled anywhere else in France, and you have QDS's rare combination of a vintage recording experience in brand new, state-of-the-art creative spaces.
Studio A has a spacious live room for recording, which is built with stone and wood making it great for live sessions. It includes a grand piano and many other vintage keyboards (Rhodes, Wurlitzer, B3 Hammond). A full backline with free access (Vintage Ludwig drum kit, guitars, bass guitars, amplifiers, stomp boxes etc.) gets musicians in the mood. For Neve addicts, the 24 channel (1093) EMI-Neve desk is ready.
Studio A is just as good a mix room as it is a tracking space.
Studio B's control room is equiped with the same powerful main monitoring as the studio A, only it has an SSL G series instead of a Neve. It's already identified by many famous sound engineers as one of the most comfortable and efficient listening environments in Paris. An amazing, dedicated collection of outboard makes it a brilliant mixing room. The iso booth next to the control room allows for vocal, guitar and keys overdubs.
All studios are wired with optical fiber high speed internet and 4K SDI video, we are set up for remote recording, film scoring and direct broadcasting.
A lounge area provides friendly french atmosphere with a nice design for relaxing, eating, meeting and chilling out etc. Complete with refreshment area and kitchenette, options for food and drink are at your disposal. The heart of Paris's nightlife is also on your doorstep...
