Originally a fully-fledged SSL studio, The Yard has seen many changes in the 10+ years it's been in Miloco's care. Having been a privately let space for the past 6 years we're pleased to be able to offer The Yard as a commercial writing, recording and production studio once more. Fully refurbished in 2022 to cater for modern writing and recording sessions, with a focus on comfort, style and great gear, The Yard is North London's latest and greatest writing oasis.
The large control room is centred around the incredible Boxer main monitoring system, with extra monitoring from the industry standard ATC SCM25As. There's mic preamps from Neve and Chandler, compression from a TubeTech CL1B and Empirical Labs Distressor, and conversion from Universal Audio. There's also a fully-specced Mac featuring Pro Tools Ultimate, Logic Pro X and plug-in libraries from Waves, Soundtoys, Fabfilter, Valhalla, Autotune and Arturia. We also have a fully-weighted 73-key Korg SV2 electric piano.
There's a good-sized booth, perfect for vocals and even small ensembles, with a choice selection of mics that includes a pair of Neumann U87s, along with AKG C414s and Shure SM7B and SM57s.
Situated very close to Highbury & Islington station (perhaps too close, depending on who you ask), the studio is incredibly well connected and surrounded by the bountiful amenities of Islington. It's a short hop to King's Cross too, making it perfect for label listening sessions or international artists arriving on the Eurostar.
