Our next blog on the launch of Osea Island focuses on its state-of-the-art SSL Recording and Mixing Studio, East Point.
East Point Studio is at the heart of the island’s musical activity. Based in the magnificent Manor House, entry to the studio is through a secret book case in the billiards room. East Point has been built on the ground floor where you will be spoiled with spectacular views of the estuary and abundant natural light. There are very few UK recording studios that enjoy such a visual backdrop.
The Recording Architecture-designed control room features large windows, dark grey panels and light oak floors and racks. It is aesthetically pleasing on the eye and complements the studio’s tranquil setting.
At the centre of the room is a SSL 4064 E-Series 64-channel console fitted with Black EQs and G-Series computer. Recording is done on a Pro Tools HD3 rig (with Pro Tools HDX coming soon) and there is a great selection of mic-pre’s, compressors, EQs, microphones and other outboard at your disposal.
The studio has two large recording booths. The first is an octagonal shaped turret with windows on all sides. This booth is located to the far right corner of the control room and benefits from a direct line of visibility with the producer/engineer, as well as the views of the sea. The second, slightly smaller booth provides an alternative isolated area for recording, however bands who want to spread out can make use of the library/billiards room which has tie lines to the control room.
East Point has full use of the Manor House and it’s luxurious accommodation. Bands can use the many huge rooms to completely spread out and make their own during a session.
