Introducing The Agafay Studio, Morocco. A Luxury Writing Retreat in the Heart of Marrakech.

This August Miloco is delighted to launch a brand new studio in a brand new country, and what a studio it is. The Agafay Studio is owned by Abel Damoussi and based in the sizzling cultural hub of central Marrakech. Located in the Medina, Marrakech’s old and historic district, this is a truly inspirational retreat for musicians and songwriters seeking a totally new and refreshing creative environment to write a record in.

Agafay has been built within a 15th century riad (a traditional Moroccan house) which has a completely modernised interior to provide a luxurious standard of living. Authentic Moroccan features are plentiful, with a courtyard and fountain, tiled mosaics, lanterns, rugs and carpets all sourced from the region. Clients have the option to rent a beautiful 6-bedroom apartment in the same building as the studio. The views of the Medina are breathtaking from some of the balconies, plus you’ll be treated to delicious Moroccan cuisine during your stay.

The studio itself has had the approval of leading UK acoustician Nick Whitaker. The spec includes a SSL Nucleus Controller, Avid Pro Tools 10, Neumann microphones, Adams speakers and more. You are then invited to fill it with your own instruments with which to pen some hits!

But what really sets Agafay apart from the rest is the location. The Marrakech Medina is home to the world famous Jamaa El Fna Square which is bursting with life night and day. Acrobats, Musicians, Snake Charmers and other street performers provide the entertainment here, while the countless food stalls, cafes, bars and restaurants offer an abundance of food and drink for you to enjoy. Away from the square, get lost in the labyrinth of ancient bazaars and alleyways.

Clients at The Agafay Studio can also make full use of Abel’s luxury country hotel, Kasbah Agafay, which is a 30 minute drive from Marrakech. Soak up this stunning rural region outside of the city and indulge in the swimming pool, spa, camel riding, quadbiking and other activities on offer.
