In case you didn’t get it already, Guilford Sound has it all. Tucked away in the woods of southern Vermont on 300 acres of private land, this stunning residential recording studio was designed and built with its natural environment in mind, operating as a low-impact and energy-efficient facility, using natural materials and finishes, and plenty of windows to blend in with its surroundings and take full advantage of its beauty.
The dream child of Dave Snyder, Guilford Sound was built by the team and Francis Manzella Design with an enormous live room complete with Yamaha C7 grand piano, four isolation booths with bring floated slabs for optimal isolation, and control room with 64-input API Legacy console. All this plus a long list of equipment and backline, which can be viewed in full here. Each of the rooms are clad in wood, with plush carpets, warm colours and comfortable furnishings to create the most inviting environment for artists to record in.
On the grounds you can choose between two accommodation options. The Earth House is a beautifully designed ‘modern rustic’ house that has five bedrooms and can sleep up to ten people, and is complete with solar heating and a living roof! Ashworth House is an historic 1790’s farmhouse full of New England antique charm, which is open three seasons of the year. It too has five bedrooms and two bathrooms, and includes a lovely outdoor amphitheatre perfect for Summer evening barbecues.
The surrounds offer the most incredible view and access of the colour-changing landscape, with plenty of walking trails on the studio grounds.
With amazing studio spaces, a comprehensive high-end equipment spec, and beautiful accommodations, if the studio doesn’t take your breath away then the views certainly will!
