There has been lots of interesting activity going on down at Brighton’s Retreat Recording Studios, a residential writing and recording facility based in the beautiful village of Ovingdean, just outside Brighton.
First of all the team at Retreat has been working hard to improve the acoustics in live rooms 1 and 2. Meanwhile, the main studio’s control room acoustics have been overhauled using the latest Vicoustic technology to give the space better detail when overdubbing. It also allows clients to mix in the control room if they wish to.
There has been some new equipment added to the main recording studio, too. The control room has benefited from new Genelec monitoring; and we’ve added two new JZ Black Hole microphones to the mic collection and will acquire a third CP12 valve mic shortly
Over in the separate mixing studio, the guys at AudioCircus have been tuning the room as well as adding new subs with crossovers for the midrange monitoring – the results are speaking for themselves with some exceptional mixes now coming out of that room.
Looking to the future, Retreat Recording Studios has some really exciting developments on the horizon, including some extensions to the studio spaces and new accommodation facilities. More on that later – stay tune on the Miloco blog for further updates.
