Over at Drumdrops an excellent vintage kit for the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt 5 has been released. The kit comes with the Drumdrops instrument loaded with great features including a full mixer, control of all five microphones set up around the kit, an eight-channel step sequencer, a MIDI groove player loaded with over 1,300 loops, multiple convolution reverbs and many other features. The kit comes loaded with an incredible 18,000 samples!
The kit was recorded by Timmy Rickard at Miloco’s The Square studio, which was ideal for the sound. Timmy was recreating the Al Jackson Jr drum sound of the 70s, as heard on many an Al Green record. They mic’d these kits using only three or four microphones, set up around the kit in a very dead room. This was recreated at The Square with five ribbon microphones, and you get full control of each mic on each drum and cymbal.
Add to this a tuned-down 60s round badge Gretsch kit which comes with four snares and has recordings of tea towels on toms, wallets on snares plus chains on cymbals and you have the perfect vintage drum sound. This amazing, good-value kit is available for only £45. All Miloco customers can now buy any of the available packs for this kit with an additional 25% off.
