Overview

Nestled in the heart of Hertford, just off the picturesque River Lea, lies a beautifully restored Grade-listed building home to Hotel Québec. Devised as George Ezra's personal recording studio in conjunction with Miloco Builds, the space has been carefully crafted to be a serene haven of creativity.

Originally built in the 18th century, this creative space blends historic charm with cutting-edge technology. George's goal was to create not only a technically capable space, but also to offer artists, bands and producers a place they could truly make their own during their stay.

Step through the submarine-style doors into the control room and you'll find a calm, airy space fitted with a choice selection of industry standard gear that will compliment any project you throw at it. The studio is centred around an API 1608 II console, offering 16 channels of API preamp, as well as a further 16 digital inputs. The desk benefits from inbuilt 500 series slots filled with some great preamp options for different flavours. Monitoring is provided by the ever-popular combination of a pair of ATC SCM25A Pros alongside a pair of NS-10s.

Inspired by some of the great studios from which George has worked, Hotel Québec's stunning double-height live room exudes class and recording pedigree. In here you'll find a much loved Rogers Holiday house kit - once the trusted drum kit of his long time drummer, some of George's personal guitar collection, a Rhodes Mark V Stage 73, and a lovely Ritmüller upright. Natural light beams into the space, creating an inviting atmosphere, while blackout options ensure complete control over lighting conditions. A black spiral staircase leads to a peaceful lounge area with views over the live room, also doubling up as a secondary recording area.

With super-fast Wi-Fi, customisable lighting to set the perfect vibe, and comfortable furniture, the studio ensures an inspiring environment for all types of creative work. On top of all that (literally), a roof terrace which offers a serene retreat, making this not just a recording space but a true haven for creativity.

Additionally, with the rise of podcasting, the live room and lounge offer an ideal setting for recording podcasts, providing a flexible and acoustically treated environment that caters to the growing demand for high-quality audio content. Whether it's a solo project or a group discussion, the space is well-equipped to support podcasters with seamless integration into the control room for professional-grade recording.
