20,000 Days on Earth

20,000 Days On Earth is  an enticing British documentary film depicting the life of cult music icon and Bad Seeds frontman, Nick Cave.

The film was co-written and directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, with Nick Cave also co-writing the script. 20,000 Days On Earth premiered at the Sundance Film Festival back in January 2014 and won two awards at the festival. The documentary was previewed across cinemas in the UK last night (17th September) and is due to go on general release Friday 19th September.

The film follows a day in the life of Cave, with directors Forsyth and Pollard blending fact with fiction to create an intimate and intriguing portrait of the star and his artistic processes. Parts of the film show Australian native, Cave in his ‘second home’, Brighton, as well as featuring people that have affected his life; Bad Seeds member, Warren Ellis and also Kyle Minogue – whom Cave duetted with on Where The Wild Roses Grow.

20,000 Days On Earth was part filmed at Miloco’s The Retreat Recording Studio in Brighton, where they also worked on the sound for the film soundtrack. It was also part filmed at Miloco’s La Fabrique studio in Southern France, where Cave and The Bad seeds recorded their latest album, Push Away The Sky and allowed directors into the studio to film footage.
