I don’t know if I rose-tint the memories, but I remember it sounded so good, so rich. It’s not like today when we go to clubs and it hurts. It was more of a life-giving bass.”

Mr Rodney Smith aka Roots Manuva was a long time favourite down Miloco way, popping by to record a shed-load of bass-heavy rhythmed-up deliciousness over the years recording the albums Brand New Second Hand, Run Come Save Me and Awfully Deep.

Roots Manuva has been a favourite working in The Square, The Toyshop and The Engine Room. Rodney has worked with hip-hop meister Dobie and Damon Albarn.
