When you need to record a killer new track for an international movie soundtrack release, “who you gonna call?” Well, Bryan Wilson, of course!
That’s just what indie four-piece Wolf Alice did to record the track ‘Ghoster’, which was written and recorded specifically for the official soundtrack of the much-talked about all-female reboot of Ghostbusters.
Repeat Miloco clients, having recorded and mixed their stellar debut album My Love Is Cool with Mike Crossey in Livingston Studio 1, the band returned to The Pool in late March this year to record the track. Noticeably more brash than their previous releases, ‘Ghoster’ is fun and obnoxious, and already being recognised as a standout from the Ghostbuster OST, which also features the likes of Fall Out Boy, Missy Elliott, Mark Ronson and DMX.
Miloco producer and engineer Bryan Wilson recorded the track in The Pool, assisted by Jamie McEvoy, and he had nothing but great things to say about the session.
“It was probably one of the smoothest full band tracking sessions I have had in a long time,” says Bryan. “The band were ready to roll, and really open and easy to work with. Wolf Alice and Ghostbusters in one session? How can it be wrong?!”
The group were lucky enough to get the musical formula right from the very start, taking only one day to record the track. “Even with trying out a few options for sounds and ideas, and we were done by about 8pm! The turnover was quick for this one as it was sent to be mixed two days after tracking – so an ideal session really,” says Bryan.
Speaking of The Pool’s in-house assistant, Jamie, Bryan had nothing but praise. “Set up was a breeze with Jamie translating my plan for the day, so his skills were very helpful and helped really make the day fun and easy going.”
