British band Man And The Echo have released their new self-titled album on 1965 Records. The album, engineered, produced and mixed by Miloco resident Neil Comber, was recorded in The Pool by Neil and the studio’s in-house assistant Jamie McEvoy.
The team tracked the base performances to an audience in the live room, with about 20 people in attendance. The band did it as a one hour gig with the audience all listening through headphones.
All the songs were recorded live together with no click, before Neil and Jamie tracked overdubs to the best performances.
The Pool’s wide array of gear and instruments were put to good use, with the band using a lot of the in house gear. Jamie tells us that they band wanted the tracks to sound raw and more ‘live’ so they kept the set-up very simple.
Jamie handled overdubs in Neil’s studio – lead and backing vocals mostly, as well as guitar and percussion – while Neil concentrated on the main tracking in The Pool.
The recording went over the course of six days before the band put some final touches on the tracks in Manchester, and sent it over the Neil to mix in his Orinoco complex studio.
