We love working on projects of all kinds, so when Sampha was recruited to record an original song for the official soundtrack for Beautiful Boy, Steve Carrell’s latest film, we were more than happy to be a part of it.
Released the same day as the emotionally driven big screen flick, ‘Treasure‘ is the opening track on the album, which also features songs from Massive Attack, Nirvana, David Bowie, Sigur Ros and more.
Sampha told Billboard that he wrote the track exclusively for the film after watching it for the first time, “Nic and Dave’s story, and the dynamic between them, really resonated with me on an emotional level and ‘Treasure’ is my response, filtered through the lens of my own experiences.”
Sampha called into north London’s Livingston 2 in May of 2018 to work on the track with producer and engineer Billy Halliday, with Sampha taking what was produced in the session away to refine the track before its final release.
