Tribal is Imelda May’s fourth studio album and continues in the vein of mainstream Rockabilly, Pop and good old fashioned Rock n’ Roll.
The title track is a stomping blaze of 50’s guitar riffs and May’s powerful vocals, kicking the record off with a bang.
The album is vibrant, energetic and slick. It’s skilfully executed, making it hard not be swept up in the infectious rhythms, the pounding percussion and May’s feisty vocal delivery. Wild Woman is fiery and boisterous whilst slower number, Gypsy In Me, displays May’s great singing talent and the continuation in theme and character.
Tribal was produced and mixed by Mike Crossey. The album was recorded and mixed at Miloco’s Livingston 1 Studio in North London and was released through Decca Records on 25th April.
