From San José (SJO - Juan Santamaria International Airport) by car/shuttle/bus:

Take the 27 Highway to Puntarenas - Ferry from Puntarenas to Paquera (Naviera Tambor) - Drive from Paquera to Tambor to Cobano to Santa Teresa/Mal Pais/Playa Carmen - Take right (North) when entering Santa Teresa - Take right (East) at Selina Hostel - From this point you need a 4x4 car/taxi or ATV

Distance: 182km - Time: apx. 5hrs (including 1,5hr ferry)

Rental car 4x4 basic: apx. $80/day

From San José (SJO - Juan Santamaria International Airport) by local flight (Sansa Airlines):

Take the domestic airport next to the international airport - 30 minutes flight to Tambor - 40 minutes taxi to Santa Teresa.

Costs: apx. $90 flight apx $50 taxi
