Built by Phil Manzanera in 2000, Gallery Studios is based in Queen's Park. The studio has undergone extensive renovation to support contemporary methods of working, including the ability to mix in Dolby Atmos using the professional Airsound system.
Gallery Studios was designed as a musician's studio, shaped by Manzanera's extensive experience working in recording studios around the world. His vision centred on creating an environment that prioritises comfort, creativity, and functionality — combining natural daylight, strong architectural design, an artistic atmosphere, state-of-the-art technology, vintage and analogue equipment, and hospitality.
The studio philosophy is rooted in the belief that artists work best when they feel relaxed and inspired. With musicians often spending long days and nights recording, Gallery Studios was designed to provide a calm, welcoming environment where artists can unwind between sessions and feel at ease throughout the creative process.
Gallery also works with a highly experienced team of engineers, encouraged to follow the recording principles associated with George Martin: trusting the ear above the machine, and viewing technology — whether analogue or digital — as a tool in service of creativity rather than an end in itself. This human-centred approach continues to define the studio's ethos and working philosophy.
