JBJ's residential suites are housed within the studio and are 5 star rated. They boast wonderful views of London's famous Portobello Road thanks to a private roof terrace. Each bedroom includes its own ensuite, and collectively the rooms can comfortably sleep 5-6 people.
One of the many advantages of staying at JBJ is that you can relax and indulge yourself in your project without having to worry about the clock. Whether it's waking up and treating yourself to a hot bath in one of the studio's bespoke wooden tubs, or cosying up around the open fire on the roof terrace, this is a stay that comfortably compliments the studio's premier recording experience.
The residential areas were designed by renowned Swedish interior designer Carolin Larsberg, and no expense has been spared in delivering the ultimate residential recording studio. From Vivienne Westwood wallpaper to James Bond glass floors, every inch of the house has been meticulously thought out.
Prior to JBJ, the house was famously known as The Rainbow House, and was owned by actress Gillian Anderson (X-Files, The Crown, Sex Education). Gillian installed many weird and wonderful features, some of which still remain. However, since taking ownership, JBJ have taken Gillian's creative vision to new levels.
The famous spiralled rainbow staircase connects all four floors, and each of which has its own unique identity. The basement features the "club" room, complete with pool table, club style booths, sprawling sofas and vintage memorabilia. This room was designed for artists to chill out and get away during the more mundane moments of a recording. Parallel to this is the studio's treated live room and booth, used for vocals and instruments that require a tight, focused sound.
On the first floor you will find a large, exposed brick living and open plan kitchen area, which doubles up as a second, bigger live room and houses the studio's Yamaha Grand Piano. This room is perfect for writing and producing demos, as well as for live recording if required. Many hit records have been written in this room.
Separated by glass floor is the first bedroom. This double room has a walk-in wardrobe, en-suite shower & toilet room with concrete brushed floor and walls. It also doubles up as another great writing/demo space, and includes an M1 mac, hammer-weighted 88-key keyboard, active monitors and use of the studio mic collection.
