Livingston Studios Complex

Map View

The historic Livingston Studios complex is located in north London's Wood Green neighbourhood. Here you will find Livingston Studio 1 and Studio 2 housed in a converted church building, which Miloco took over in 2013. Having two studios both with multiple live spaces, booths and individual control rooms, the Livingston complex is the perfect place for a large act needing multiple studios simultaneously for recording.

Livingston 1 is an outstanding tracking room with a large control room and three large live spaces. The live room contains a main area that can accommodate live ensembles when the Yamaha Grand Piano is rolled away, and two wood-floored rooms with glass walls and doors to enable isolation or one space that flows through. The control room is centred around a 72 channel SSL SL4072 G+ series console, and as of 2016 features a pair of awesome 3 way Augspurger Duo-12 Monitors with 2 x single 18" subs.

Next door is the smaller Livingston 2, which underwent a major refurbishment in May 2016. Studio 2 has three live spaces, a control room and a private day-lit rec room which can be used as an additional isolation area or bass amp booth. These spaces make the studio perfect for bands wanting to record simultaneously with good visibility and separation. The control room is centred around a Custom Series 75 console powered by Neve, with a Pro Tools HDX Rig, Studer machine and Augspurger Duo-8 Monitors, as well as a great selection of backline, outboard and microphones.

History: Livingston Studios is housed in the old St John's church hall on Brook Road, which was converted into a single recording studio in 1980 by Nic Kinsey. Five years later, in 1985, Jerry Boys joined Livingston and a second studio was added, as well as the studio's first SSL desk. In 1993 Jerry and his business partner Dave Margereson purchased the studio and created the Livingston Recording Studios Ltd company. This era saw projects like Buena Vista Social Club's multi-million selling self-titled album and Björk's debut, Debut, recorded and/or mixed at Livingston by Jerry and producer Nick Gold, who then bought the studio in 2001. Miloco acquired the complex from Nick Gold in 2012 before renovating and re-launching Livingston Studios alongside producer/engineer Mike Crossey. A second renovation was undertaken in 2015/16 with both Livingston 1 and Livingston 2 receiving cosmetic makeovers and technical upgrades. Over its many years Livingston has had the pleasure of recording for The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, REM, Plan B, Kanye West, The Clash, Muse, Jamie Cullum, The Libertines, and many more.
