Red Kite Studio nestles in a beautiful Welsh valley undisturbed by the hustle and bustle of the outside world.
The whole studio complex provides an unparalled working environment that is at once relaxing and inspirational. Extensive use of oak and maple contribute to the organic feel and rich warm sound achieved here.
On entering the spacious control room, you're immediately struck by the excellent visual communication provided by the glass wall and doors that lead through to the live room. Both the control room and the live room benefit from vaulted ceilings and plenty of natural daylight. Adjoining the live room is a generously proportioned isolation booth, also with its own natural daylight and good visibility, which is perfectly suited to recording a small drum kit, guide vocals or guitar amps etc.
The control room measures approximately 450 sq ft; the live room approximately 445 sq ft; and the isolation booth approximately 55 sq ft.
There is an excellent selection of microphones available including a unique vintage Neumann U47.
The main monitors are particularly special. They have been custom designed for the room with processing by Dolby Lake Linear Phase FIR cross-over technology and Trinnov room correction. This extends up to a well-balanced 5.1 system if required. Six separate stereo cue feeds are provided into the live room giving ample and flexible control for musicians' foldback.
The French doors in the live room not only let in plenty of natural daylight, they provide easy access for loading equipment into the studio directly from the parking area in front of the studio building.
Just outside the control room is a kitchenette, where the studio's own spring water is on tap, for making tea, coffee and snacks. Homemade cakes can sometimes be found here!
