Set within this magnficient 15th Century Moroccan riad in central Marrakech is The Agafay Studio, part of the glorious Agafay Hotel which is owned by Abel Damoussi. Already a hugely popular location for a host of high profile local artists such as Zaiio, Marouane Hajji, Sana Marahati and Komy, Agafay is also where countless international artists choose to go to soak up the amazing atmosphere of Morocco when writing their music.
The writing room has been designed and kitted out to serve as a luxurious home-like creative space with a really authentic Moroccan feel for artists and songwriters to completely settle into. There is comfortable leather furniture and other homely touches such as a small library. It is an open-space recording/writing studio and has been completely acoustically-treated and tested by leading UK acoustic expert Nick Whitaker, who has designed countless great recording studios across the world.
Based in the room is an SSL, some good microphones, speakers, Pro Tools and more. An SSL Nucleus Controller is at the center of the spec, and is joined by Pro Tools 10, Adams monitors, some outboard, plugins and several microphones by Neumann, Shure and more. View the full equipment spec to find out more on what's on offer.
Away from the writing studio itself, clients also have the option to record in the stunning courtyard. Not only that, but it is also possible to set up on the large terrace with its amazing views over the city of Marrakech, or to record from one of the large rooms in the house.
