The Grange Studios

The Grange is an idyllic residential recording studio set in a brick-built 17th century barn in South West Norfolk. For 20 years the studio has been at the height of the rock, blues and roots music scene, seamlessly blending modern digital recording techniques with their all analogue attitude.

At the heart of the studio lies a pristine 80-channel Amek Rembrandt console, feeding Radar Nyquist Converters and the Radar V Digital Recording system, as well as a Pro Tools HDX rig. This combination provides virtually unmatched audio fidelity and flexibility whilst maintaining faithful to the roots and workflows of all-analogue recording.

In the adjacent machine room sits a selection of the most well-regarded tape machines ever made (Studio A827 Gold Edition, MCI JH-16, Studer A80, Studer B67) all in pristine condition and ready to add colour to any track. Monitoring is provided by a pair of Tannoy AMS8s with the faithful, ever-present NS10s as a secondary set. 

The control room is warm, airy and light, and feels steeped in history and class. There's a great selection of outboard to help create any effect or flavour desired, including the classic 1176/LA-2A/Distressors as well as lots of effects units from Lexicon, Roland, DeltaLab and Aphex.

The Grange's live room really makes the most of the studio's barn history. Spacious with high ceilings and flooded with natural light, it's a hugely creative space that allows for great drum and guitar sounds. Two adjacent booths of a very good size offer a variety of creative options, and there's more than enough space to accommodate a full band with good isolation between the different players.
