Beautiful views of New York Bay, the occasional cobblestone street, and an industrial vibe make Red Hook a unique area. It's the big city feel with the flavor of New England. Red Hook is home to many creatives and entrepreneurs, such as artisans, musicians, beekeepers, and rooftop gardeners. It was also home to H.P. Lovecraft and served as the setting for his story, "The Horror at Red Hook."
This small waterfront park is a short walk from Atomic Sound and boasts some of the best views of the Statue of Liberty you can find without stepping off of dry land. If you walk to the end of the pier, Lady Liberty will be facing you almost directly. The park also has veiws of Lower Manhattan, Governors Island, and Staten Island.
Once a bait shop frequented by local fisherman, Red Hook Bait and Tackle is now a lively bar featuring a wide range of tap beer. On Friday and Saturday nights live music adds to the atmosphere.
A local favorite serving classic comfort-foods such as fried-shrimp po'boys and mac and cheese with homemade bread crumbs. Their impressive burger menu includes nearly 20 different options for you to choose from. Hope & Anchor also hosts a popular karaoke party on Friday and Saturday nights from 9:30pm to 1:00am.
For those with a sweet tooth, Baked offers a selection of decadent desserts from triple layer cakes to cookies. They've been named one of the best bakeries in the states by Time Out.
