Music Lan is in the region of Alt Empordà, Catalonia, Spain. Activities in the area are extrmely diverse and we have listed a few of them here, including some medieval sites and some great restaurants.
The Dali Museum is where art lovers can fully appreciate the works of the master of surrealism. You can visit the house in which he lived until 1982, as well as the castle that he bought for his wife and in which is she buried. It is one of many interesting museums to visit in the area, others include the Museum of the Empordà, the Joguets (Toy museum) and The Technical Museum. Also nearby is the Castle of Sant Ferran, the biggest fortress in Europe. The shops and local eateries are fantasitc in the Alt Empordà capital.
A beautiful village of about 3,000 inhabitants situated on the easternmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula. It is a tourist, art and culture center of the highest order. Its coastline is virtually untouched - it must be visited.
Roses is a well-known tourist attraction. It has some lovely beaches and its coastline offers possibly the best creeks of the Costa Brava. Visit the many historical monuments such as La Ciutadella, the "Castrum Visigòtic", the Castell de la Trinitat and the countless megalithic monuments.
L'Escala is a typical sailor village with wonderful cuisine. It has very good beaches and is famous for its anchovy fishing.
To the north of the village you can find the Ruins of Empúries, which was firstly occupied by the ancient Greeks and then the Romans. The Greek city is totally excavated but the Roman half features some lovely mosaics. Close to the ruins is the Saint Martí d'Empúries, a small village that is walled off and that was once occupied by the Greeks. There are some excellent restaurants and lovely views from the village.
Castelló d'Empúries is the ancient capital of the Counted of Empúries with an important monumental heritage. There is a famous parachutist club popular throughout the year.
El Port de la Selva is a beautiful sailor village known for its clean Mediterranean air and beautiful coastline. There is the Romanesque monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes, which dates back to the 9th century and is well worth a visit.
Only five minutes from the studio is this beautiful 18 hole golf course. Besides golf there is also tennis, paddle boat, triathlon, and Spa facilities.
Another very good course for golf lovers, widely recognised as the best club in Catalonia. There is a five star hotel on site that includes a popular 'Wine Spa'.
In the nearby village of Peralada there is a casino, and the village's castle hosts a world famous music festival in the summer.
If you like mountain sports then just over an hour from Music Lan is skiing facilities in the Pyrenees. Resorts include Vallter 2000, Núria, La Molina, La Masella and many other places. The peaks are around 3,000m.
Mas Pau´s restaurant serves awesome Spanish food. It is a short distance from Music Lan Studios.
