Studio A provides a spacious tracking room featuring a flexible system of isolation that offers configurable layout to musicians.
The room is centred around a custom and fully restored 1975 EMI Neve console, 1 of only 8 remaining in the world, an incredibly rare custom built console by Neve for EMI records. Our console specifically was built for EMI Mexico modelled after her big sister at Abbey Road, where it recorded hits such as Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. Considered to be one of the best sounding consoles ever produced, it provides impeccable vintage analog tone with the flexibility needed for modern recording sessions.
Recently renovated by Christian Malcurt, the control room offers flush-mounted Custom ATC monitors and a wide selection of some of the rarest compressors and equalisers you'll find today.
At QDS we have a range of over 80 microphones from the legendary Neumann U47 to the rare STC 4035 including all the classics such Neumann U67 & KM56 or RCA 44 & 77. Studio A offers the latest Mac Pro equipped with HDX card, Black Magic 4k card and an arsenal of plug-ins with Octo UAD card.
From rock bands to 10 piece string ensembles, Studio A has seen it all! The live room also features Fazioli F183 grand piano, which is easily moved to any of the two tracking spaces between our main brick and wood live room to our stone room. We can also set up over 3 different drum kits, bass and guitars, and a full range of keyboard instruments (Hammond B3, Wurlitzer 200a, Fender Rhodes 73, CP-70, Farfisa and Moog Synths, etc). Its versatility has allowed it to accommodate any type of recording setup in any genre.
