Overview

The Premises Studios have evolved over the last 30 years to be London's most popular rehearsal, recording and production complex, complete with cafe and cat. We are based in a central location in Shoreditch and have hosted clients ranging from Gladys Knight, FKA Twigs, Lapsley, Arctic Monkeys, Lana Del Rey and Gregory Porter to Pussy Riot, as well as un-countable aspiring and unsigned artists.

The recording studio "STUDIO A" is designed to be eco-friendly and was the worlds first solar powered recording studio, giving more energy back to the grid than it actually consumes.

There are great lines of sight and plenty of natural light in the control room, all the way through to the drum room and private rooftop conservatory, making it ideal for live tracking, and filming sessions too.

The live room hosts a Yamaha C3 baby grand piano, a Fender Rhodes, A Gretch Renown drum kit and a range of vintage amps including a 70's Ampeg B15 flip-top, a 1960's silvertone, a handwired Vox AC15 and a Fender Twin.

A wide range of vintage and modern microphones including Coles/STC, B+O, Neumanns, Telefunkens and quirky ribbon and dynamic microphones have been collected over the years meaning you have your industry standards at hand, with rarer options available to experiment and try something new.

The control room is based around a 24 channel SSL (and 12 channel valve summing mixer) with full HUi control over a 32 I/O Protools HDX system with massive range of plug-ins, outboard compressors and EQs, including a GML 8200, vintage API 550's EQs and a Pendulum ES-8 to name a few. There are also over 20 additional mic preamps making it possible to track a large session using outboard, leaving the desk free to mix and monitor your session.

As a producer or engineer or performer, you are able to clearly see through the control room to the vocal booth, live room and drum isolation booth which makes visual comunication not only possible but easy.

The local area is known for its markets, pubs, nightlife, restaurants, shopping and parks so theres plenty to do when youre taking a break or in between sessions. Check out the what to do and where to stay pages, and of course the equipment list, floorplan and image gallery.
