Old Carpet Factory is a recording studio and art residency set within a historic 18th-century mansion on the Greek island of Hydra. Built by Venetian architects for the family of Greek naval admiral Anastasios Tsamados, the property later became known as the Old Carpet Factory after serving for decades as a carpet-weaving workshop.
Founded by producer Stephan Colloredo-Mansfeld in 2016, the studio has earned international recognition for its unconventional setting, distinctive acoustics and extensive collection of cult vintage and rare analogue equipment. Today, it offers artists, producers and writers a rare creative environment: a carefully calibrated hybrid studio surrounded by history, sea views and the car-free tranquillity of Hydra.
Alongside the studio, the Old Carpet Factory Art Residency – founded in 2019 by curator, researcher and photographer Ekaterina Juskowski – supports new creative work while documenting and preserving Hydra's cultural heritage
