Studio 1 is Studio Le Roy's flagship tracking and mixing room, built around a vast 140 m² live hall with an 11-metre ceiling and a 45 m² control room featuring full Dolby Atmos monitoring. Acoustically designed by Ben Kok, the space is engineered for everything from full-band sessions to immersive post-production.
On entering, the scale of the live room sets the tone: a bright, open environment anchored by a Yamaha C7 grand piano and room for large ensembles, with three iso booths and two sound locks for flexible isolation. Large windows and glass doors maintain clear sightlines between musicians and the control room without compromising acoustics.
The control room centres on a 56-channel SSL 4000 E/G console, flanked by a "candy store" of outboard from classic 1950s designs to cutting-edge modern units—high-end preamps, EQs, dynamics, and world-class reverbs that let you shape anything from pristine to gritty. Full ATC-based 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos monitoring sits alongside trusted nearfields, with Pro Tools Ultimate (96 in/out) and a deep plugin suite including Altiverb, Melodyne, FabFilter, and Plugin Alliance. Key outboard highlights include Lexicon 480 and TC Electronic System 6000 reverbs, EMT 140 and AKG BX 20 plates, plus premium preamps and dynamics from Telefunken, Prism Maselec, Millenia, Manley, Neve, Urei, and more. The microphone collection runs to around 150 pieces, including Neumann M49/150/149/TLM170, ELA 251, and Brauner VMA, ensuring the right character for any source.
Like Studio 2, Studio 1 has its own lounge with a fully equipped kitchen, giving teams a comfortable space to rest and reset between takes. With its combination of enormous live room, top-tier console, immersive monitoring, and deep outboard and mic options, Studio 1 offers a uniquely inspiring starting point for recording, mixing, and Atmos production.
