WE ARE A SYDNEY RECORDING STUDIO, DEDICATED TO CAPTURING AUSTRALIA'S BEST MUSIC AND CONTENT.
Step off busy William Street, in the heart of the city of Sydney, in to Forbes Street Studios and be immediately transported to a relaxed environment teeming with creativity. Our highly accessible studios have been expertly crafted from the ground-up by studio designer Michael Fronzek. The rooms sound as equally polished as they look. Three studios, three isolation booths, a live room, an interview room, and more. Including several amenities such as a kitchenette, fridge, bathroom, and even a spacious terrace with a view of the Harbour Bridge.
When you enter through the large front glass-door entrance and step on to the generous terrace, take the next left into the hefty main studio door entrance. Striking decor and an early 20th century Gulbransen Player Piano greets you as you enter the main corridor.
Studio 1 - A generously sized control room is Forbes Street Studios' premium recording and mixing space. Home to Australia's only Barefoot MiniMain 12 speakers, the control room centres around an analogue SSL AWS924 console with DAW integration, Pro Tools HDX and a selection of must-have outboard, plugins and synthesisers. In recent months, the team at Forbes Street Studios has installed and certified a full system for Dolby Atmos / Spatial mixing, with a 9.1.4 Genelec Monitoring system.
Live Room - Accompanying our flagship space, Studio 1 comes paired with the Live Room - our main space for recording bands, ensembles, film-shoots, mini concerts, and more. Tracks 10+ musicians simultaneously. Includes acoustic baffles, Ludwig drums, Gibson and Fender guitars, and a selection of premium amplifiers. All adjoined by separate vocal and amp booths.
Studio 2 - With a spacious feel and top-level acoustics, Studio 2 is ideally suited to vocal production, songwriting, editing, and in-the-box mixing. The space invites creativity, with vintage keyboards, drum machines, high quality vocal chains, and flexible software options all included.
Interview Room - The Interview Room was specifically constructed for the purpose of hosting interviews and podcasts. Forbes Street Studios does everything in-house, via DAW or remotely via Audio-over-IP, catering for everyone - from the humble podcaster, to commercial radio stations. Sit in the quiet isolation of the Interview Room looking out to busy inner-city William Street - It is a most pleasant experience.
Studio 3 - When booked for a songwriting session, Studio 3 is highly desired space for sessions of up to 3 people. Offering a minimalistic low-cost option for facilitating music creation at the highest quality. When podcasting – Studio 3 is an ideal editing suite and control room, and is best suited for taking advantage of the specially designed Interview Room.
Among great spaces is also great gear! Mics such as the Sony C-800G, Neumann U67, Telefunken ELA M 251, vintage Neumann U47 FET, and many more classics. We carry an extensive selection of instruments including Ludwig Club Date SE Drum Kit, Fender and Gibson guitars, Fender and Vox amplifiers, Ampeg bass rig, vintage synthesizers like the Roland Jupiter-6, vintage drum machines like the Roland TR-808, and so much more worth checking out!
