Forbes Street Studios

Step off busy William Street in the heart of the city of Sydney, in to Forbes Street Studios and be immediately transported into a relaxed environment teeming with creativity. Our highly accessible studios have been expertly crafted from the ground-up by studio designer Michael Fronzek. The rooms here sound better than they look. Three studios, three isolation booths, one live room, one interview room, and one other recording space. Including several amenities such as a kitchenette, fridges, bathroom, and even a spacious terrace.

When you through the large glass front entrance doors step on to the terrace, take a left inside the hefty main studio door. Striking decor and an early 20th Century Gulbransen Piano Player greets you as you enter the main corridor. The corridor is also suitable for tracking with tie lines to and from the studios. As a point of fact, all of our studio spaces are interconnected and cross-patchable for large whole-studio projects

Studio 2 on the left is a moderately sized space aimed at writing sessions, overdubs and mixing. Monitor with precision through Adams A77X, or Yamaha NS-10M Studio speakers. Adjoined is Vocal Booth 2 and one of two passages that lead to the Interview Room.

The Interview Room is specifically constructed for the purpose of interviews and podcasts. This can be done in-house via DAW, or remotely via Audio-over-IP. Looking out to busy inner-city William Street from the quiet isolation of the Interview Room is a pleasant experience.

Studio 3 is our multi-purpose media hub. With video editing software: Avid Media Composer, DAW solutions: Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Ableton, image editing software: Adobe Creative Suite, and several Audio-over-IP devices. This room also doubles as an affordable alternate writing and overdub studio.

Second door on the right is our flagship studio control room: Studio 1, accessible through Vocal Booth 1. The generously sized control room is our premium space boasting an SSL AWS 924 Console, Australia's only pair of Barefoot MiniMain12s, and two pairs of near field monitors Genelec 8040B and Yamaha NS-10M Studio. We also feature a wide array of both modern and vintage outboard equipment.

On the right-hand side of the corridor as you enter the studio is the Live Room, accessible through an isolation booth. The Live Room is our main recording space, but has also seen much use for film shoots, mini-concert performances, and even small-group functions. Generous lines of sight to Studio 1 and Vocal Booth 1 are found in the Live Room, this is highly valuable for communication when tracking. Two large windows grant plenty of natural light. Roller-shades outside on the terrace give extra control of the ambience.

Among great spaces is also great gear! Mics such as the Sony C-800G, a vintage Neumann U47 FET, and many more classics. We carry an extensive selection of instruments including Ludwig Club Date SE Drum Kit, several Gibson guitars, Fender Precision Bass, Vox AC30HW2X amplifier, vintage synthesizer Roland Jupter-8, vintage drum machine Roland TR-808, and so much more worth checking out.

Forbes Street Studios opened in late 2016. Still fresh on the market, we have so far enjoyed hosting a variety of high profile clients including the likes of The Voice, Lorde, Niall Horan, Shawn Mendes, Flume, Sean Paul, Dean Lewis, Billie Eilish, Vera Blue, Angus & Julia Stone, Tove Lo, Polish Club, The Preatures, Mansionair, and The McClymonts, to name a few.
