Following the debut album Love Your Dum and Mad in 2013, opening for Bat for Lashes and Depeche Mode, and playing live for Vivienne Westwood’s Red Label London Fashion Week show, Nadine Shah has announced her return with the track Stealing Cars.
Stealing Cars is a mix of clattering percussion, serrated guitar lines, and minimal piano refrains. It was released via Apollo on 18 November, and a full album will follow in early 2015.
The track was recorded at Miloco’s The Pool in London, with Peter Jobson (I Am Kloot), Nick Webb, and Ben Hillier. Ben oversaw production duties.

Welcome To 1979, a retro, vibey recording studio just minutes from downtown Nashville, is now on the Miloco roster. Containing completely reconditioned analogue tape recorders, outboard gear, and microphones, the studio confirms that vintage doesn’t mean antiquated.
Welcome To 1979 includes more than 7,000 square feet over two floors, which means there is plenty of room for bands to spread out. The live room is an impressive 25 x 40ft, and this is complemented by eight isolation rooms. Even Arcade Fire could get lost here.
Recording is done through a vintage MCI onto tape, but of course there is Pro Tools for those who wish to stay in the digital domain. The studio is well backed up on the instrument front, with three pianos and plenty of vintage keyboards.
Check out Welcome To 1979 here.

Located in Burbank, Eldorado Recording Studios is the first Los Angeles studio on the Miloco roster.

The Church Studios, a studio on the Miloco roster in partnership with producer Paul Epworth, obtained a fantastic Bechstein model B last week.
At 89 inches long and 60 inches wide, the early 1920s, all-original grand piano looks very much at home in the newly revamped Studio 2.
The piano even has an ecclesiastical history, with the Reverend Dr John Bowden being its one previous owner.
The Bechstein model B has appeared courtesy of British singer, songwriter, producer, and visual artist Gary Go.

Electro-pop trio Years & Years, a Miloco client, will battle spoken word artist George the Poet and singer-songwriter James Bay to be crowned Brits Critics’ Choice for 2015.
In 2014, Years & Years have carried out sessions at studio on the Miloco roster Baltic Studios, working with producer Lxury and engineer Kristian Donaldson, and Miloco’s The Bridge studio, working with engineer Jake Gordon and assistant Arthur Indrikovs.
Speaking about their nomination, the band said: “Having grown up watching the Brits we’re unbelievably honoured and to be honest quite overwhelmed to be included in the Critics’ Choice Award. We’re so grateful to be making music, and having this sort of recognition is crazy and ridiculous and nuts in a really good way. Thanks Brits!”
This year’s winner will be announced on Thursday 4 December.

Videos Celebrating Jon Lord and One Direction: This Is Us, the audio of which was digitally recorded with Miloco partner DMZ Live’s vehicle, achieved No 1s in this month’s Music Video Charts.
The premix for Celebrating Jon Lord, the video of the concert honouring Deep Purple’s Jon Lord (pictured), was completed at The Yard, a studio on the Miloco roster.
The final mixes were carried out at Abbey Road and Miloco’s Livingston Studios, and the concert was recorded at Royal Albert Hall, technically a very large setup.
The audio for documentary One Direction: This Is Us was recorded from four of the band’s concerts at The O2.
DMZ has since recorded a David Attenborough trailer for the BBC, The Specials at the University of East Anglia, Band of Skulls at O2 Guildhall Southampton, The Jim Jones Revue’s final show at The Forum, and Yann Tiersen and Underworld at the Royal Festival Hall, to name but a few.
In addition, the DMZ team used The Yard for the 5.1 mixing and part of the live show DVD mix of Depeche Mode’s Delta Machine tour, which all featured in the Depeche Mode: Alive In Berlin film.

Grammy-winning record producer, mixer, and engineer Jacquire King will conduct a Mix With The Masters seminar at the residential Studios La Fabrique, a studio on the Miloco roster in the south of France, from 22-28 May 2015.
King has emerged as one of the most exciting engineer/producer of his generation and has worked with artists including Norah Jones, Kings of Leon, Josh Ritter, Cold War Kids, Punch Brothers, Melissa Etheridge, The Airborne Toxic Event, and Dawes.
“I have been a part of the making of many great records, and my main contribution has been to help identify what the great ideas are, and help bring them to life,” said King. “I look forward to offering seminar participants the inside track on this.”
During this very unique event, King will teach his engineering and mixing techniques to a small group of selected engineers, producers, and musicians from all over the world. King will work on the attendees’ personal projects and he will also record a band to share his approach on production.

A new wheelhouse, which is used as a flat, has been added to Miloco’s Lightship95 studio in London Docklands.
“It’s actually a self-contained two-bed flat to milk the insanely inflated rental prices in this area,” said Lightship95’s Ben Phillips. “So not directly for the studio but it will certainly be financing some new equipment purchases next year!”
Phillips has one more compartment, next to the control room and beneath this new wheelhouse, to convert. The compartment, which Phillips hopes to renovate late next year, will be an expansion of the studio and the last area he can develop on the ship.
