The Courteeners’ third album, Anna has the critics purring with its anthemic sounds and fantastic songwriting. Anna entered the UK charts at number six, the second top 10 album this week for Mike Crossey and Robin Schmidt, who also produced and mastered the current UK number two album, Jake Bugg.

Last night was the annual Music Producers Guild Awards at the Cafe de Paris in Central London, and we are pleased to announce that three of our longterm clients won coveted prizes at the ceremony.
Alan Moulder, who with Flood and Miloco runs the Assault & Battery Studio complex in North-West London, won Mix Engineer Of The Year for his recent work with The Killers, Richard Hawley, A Silent Film, 2:54, Fixers, Chairlift and The Big Pink which he mixed in Assault & Battery 1.
Charlie Hugall, who is represented by Gotham Producers, prevailed in the Breakthrough Engineer Of The Year category. Charlie has worked regularly in Assault & Battery 1, Sofa Sound and The Pool on a number of artists including Lucy Rose, Swim Deep, Mahalia and Dog Is Dead.
A huge congratulations to Paul Epworth who scooped his second Producer Of The Year gong at the MPGs to add to his incredible collection of awards from across the music world. Paul has worked with Miloco for many years producing artists and bands such as Florence and the Machine, Bloc Party, Friendly Fires, Chapel Club and more.

This month we are pleased to announce that after a short transition period The Motor Museum recording studio in Liverpool has reopened under a newly established relationship between Miloco and producer/engineer, Al Groves.
This legendary Liverpool recording studio has become cemented in the rich musical legacy of North England, launching the careers of some hugely influential and successful British artists including Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, The Coral, The La’s, and more recently Ben Howard, Jake Bugg and Tribes.
Built within a large warehouse in the popular Lark Lane area of South Liverpool, The Motor Museum comprises a selection of excellent sounding, flexible recording spaces and a good size control room. There is a large live and stone room, hexagonal booth and an exceptional spec highlighted by features such as the vast range of terrific microphones and an amazing Protools HD2 Accel rig. There is also an impressive offering of rare and vintage microphones and backline equipment.
The Motor Museum is fully capable of catering for mix projects as well, with a vintage Neve 8232 Analogue console and stacks of great outboard gear.
One of The Motor Museum’s unique charms is its popular and inspiring atmosphere that bands love working in. The warehouse has a vast glass roof that absorbs natural light throughout the day. A large indoor terrace is lined with orange and lemon trees, and there is a relaxing rec room and kitchen area that looks out across the studio rooms. Outside, the bars, restaurants and pubs of Lark Lane are on your doorstep, and central Liverpool is a short drive away.

The room was designed by Roger D’arcy (Recording Architecture), one of the most prolific studio architects in the world. Roger has also designed a revolutionary ergonomic master console that is the centrepiece of this beautiful space.
Optimum’s services include digital mastering, vinyl cutting, digital editing and restoration, all performed by engineers with experience at the highest level.
Monitoring is supplied by PMC, industry leaders in professional speaker technology, whilst the latest Sadie 6 is the choice of workstation, capable of effortlessly handling hi resolution digital audio. Analogue and digital outboard processing is by Prism Maselec & TC Electronics System 6000, while vinyl is cut on a lovingly restored Neumann VMS 70 lathe, originally from Nashville.

Soho Sound Kitchen is a brand new 5.1 SSL recording and mix studio in King’s Cross, London, having recently moved from a previous site in Soho.
This state-of-the-art facility was setup up by producer/engineer Goetz Botzenhardt (Dido, Faithless, Sugababes, Pet Shop Boys) and music composer Christian Henson, and was designed and built by Munro Acoustics. It has a control room which features an SSL E-4044 console, Adam 5.1 Surround Sound Monitoring and a comprehensively loaded 48 channel Pro Tools 10 HDX system. The room also boasts a large selection of top end outboard.
For recording purposes there is a 200 sq ft live room that is great for recording and overdubbing. It has a good collection of microphones and can accommodate a rhythm section and ensembles of up to six string players.
Soho Sound Kitchen also benefits from a prime location. You can reach the exciting new Kings Cross development from the tube station in less than ten minutes on foot, and the popular areas of Camden and Islington are also nearby.

Tom’s highly anticipated debut album was recorded in The The Bridge and The Square and mixed in The Engine Room last year. The album was produced by Dan Grech.
Tom will receive the award at the BRITS ceremony on February 20, where a host of other Miloco clients are also nominated for gongs, including: Ben Howard, Calvin Harris, Plan B, Jake Bugg, Mumford & Sons, The Vaccines, Lana Del Ray and Paul Epworth. We wish them all the best of luck on the night.
