The concept is for Tim to provide clients with an easy, quick and cost-effective method of getting great drum tracks recorded specifically for their projects, using the vast range of new and vintage drums that the Drum Shed has available.
Today, many recording artists and producers find is relatively easy to record many acoustic instruments in small scale or home studios. However drums often pose a problem, both because of their noise and complexity… and yet they can add so much life and depth to a track. Today we are delighted to introduce Contrepoint residential recording and mixing studio on The Market Place. Contrepoint is located in the Sologne, less than an hour and a half’s drive from Paris and ten minutes south of Orleans. The studio is located in a vast, 200hectare forest-covered park giving clients the opportunity to experience working in a blissful and stunning section of the French countryside. The beautifully crafted studio boasts excellent acoustics, and the spec features the same Neve VX72 desk that was used on the Lord of the Rings soundtrack, plus a great choice of outboard and microphones.
Contrepoint’s modern and stylish accommodation sleeps between six and eight people. Located in the same building as the studio, this stunning 4-bedroom apartment offers modern luxury inside, and the beautiful surroundings of the park outside.

In yesterday’s blog we introduced The Market Place, a brand new platform of studios on the Miloco website. Today, in the second instalment of a series of posts on The Market Place, we’ll be looking in further detail on the concept of our new launch…
The Market Place is a brand new listing of affiliated recording, mixing and residential studios spread across the world. We are not launching an exhaustive directory of every recording studio – there are some great online platforms which already do that. Our aim is to make it easier for clients to find great facilities which we fully endorse.
The studios that have launched on The Market Place have been carefully chosen to form a global and dynamic group. They include famous commercial rooms in major cities, luxury residential retreats in stunning natural surroundings and smaller studios located closer to home, all of which complement Miloco’s existing portfolio. The countries with Market Place studios at the time of launch are spread far and wide across England, Wales, Iceland, France, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey, USA and Indonesia, with other countries (and continents) on the horizon.

This month we are hugely excited to launch The Market Place, an incredible selection of studio facilities located around the globe, which are now promoted on a new section of the Miloco website.
The Market Place makes it easier for our clients to find more studios in the UK and internationally. Studios on The Market Place can be viewed on the website in the same detail as Miloco’s own rooms, and are still booked through the Miloco office. At the time of launch The Market Place consists of a fantastic selection of recording, mixing and residential studios spread far and wide across England, Wales, Iceland, France, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey, USA and Indonesia, with other countries (and continents) on the horizon.
Click through to view all the studios currently on The Market Place. You can also use our studio search tool on The Market Place page, where you can filter studios by type or location, or by searching for a specific item of equipment by typing in its make or model, or searching for a general term such as ‘piano’ or ‘drum kit’. Your search results will combine studios from both the Market Place and from Miloco’s own portfolio of rooms onto one page making it easier to find the best studio for your project.

Produced by Ben Hillier and released on Mute Records is the long-awaited debut album from Beth Jeans Houghton, and it’s been worth the wait. Featuring singles Liliputt and Nightswimmer, the latter of which first surfaced on an EP a few years back, Yours Truly, Cellophane Noise is a venturesome collection of psychedelic folk-pop tunes, and one of the most unusually charming records you will be likely to hear in 2012. Ben produced the album in The Pool and mixed it at Miloco’s Leroy Street.

Lana Del Rey’s major label debut, featuring the epic indie-pop single ‘Video Games’ and its distinctive follow up ‘Born To Die’, was inevitably going to make an international impact when it was finally released at the end of January following six months of building anticipation. Straight away it landed in the top ten in 20 different countries around the world, notably achieving number one status in the UK, Australia, France and Germany, and a number two peak on the Billboard 200, making Born To Die the undoubted runaway commercial success of 2012 so far.

Joe Goddard from Hot Chip and Raf Rundell from Greco Roman Soundsystem re-collaborate for the new 2 Bears Album, Be Strong. A smart, sophisticated and humorous electro album layered with Hot Chip-esque melodies and sprinkled with up-beat disco grooves. This is a great dancefloor fusion record for 2012. Released January 30.

21 year old Hannah Clark, aka Foe releases her well-received debut, Bad Dream Hotline. This collection of 12 songs often combines the grunge and gloom of bands such as Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails with commercially viable, pop-influnced choruses. It was produced by Dan Grech-Marguerat.
Mike Crossey mixed several tracks from Bad Dream Hotline in The Motor Museum and Craig Silvey mixed the track ‘Cold Hard Rock’ in The Garden.

Camden 4-piece Tribes were championed by Zane Lowe and other BBC figures throughout 2011 following the EP, ‘ We Were Children’. The long-awaited debut album, Baby has at last landed in the new year and is full of big Pixie-esque choruses guaranteed to please the crowds on this year’s tour circuit, which includes a spot on the NME Awards Tour 2012. Tribes are deservedly tipped to be one of the big breakthrough guitar acts this year.
Mike Crossey produced and mixed Baby in The Motor Museum in 2011. Released January 16 2012.
