This month we are hugely excited to launch The Market Place, an incredible selection of studio facilities located around the globe, which are now promoted on a new section of the Miloco website.
The Market Place makes it easier for our clients to find more studios in the UK and internationally. Studios on The Market Place can be viewed on the website in the same detail as Miloco’s own rooms, and are still booked through the Miloco office. At the time of launch The Market Place consists of a fantastic selection of recording, mixing and residential studios spread far and wide across England, Wales, Iceland, France, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey, USA and Indonesia, with other countries (and continents) on the horizon.
Click through to view all the studios currently on The Market Place. You can also use our studio search tool on The Market Place page, where you can filter studios by type or location, or by searching for a specific item of equipment by typing in its make or model, or searching for a general term such as ‘piano’ or ‘drum kit’. Your search results will combine studios from both the Market Place and from Miloco’s own portfolio of rooms onto one page making it easier to find the best studio for your project.
Please stay tuned to the Miloco Studios blog over the next week or so to find out a whole lot more on The Market Place, and the many studios that we are introducing on this brand new online platform. We will also be blogging about future opportunities for other like-minded studio owners to join The Market Place.

Featuring singles Liliputt and Nightswimmer, the latter of which first surfaced on an EP a few years back, Yours Truly, Cellophane Noise is a venturesome collection of psychedelic folk-pop tunes, and one of the most unusually charming records you will be likely to hear in 2012. Ben produced the album in The Pool and mixed it at Miloco’s Leroy Street.
Released February 6 2012.

Bands looking for a place to rehearse in total peace need look no further than Osea Island. Not only can you escape the dark rehearsal rooms synonymous with cities, you can enjoy this beautiful private island and prepare for your next tour away from prying eyes.
There are a number of outbuildings and barns dotted across the island that can become your perfect rehearsal space. You can bring your own backline and PAs and rehearse completely undisturbed.
If you have technicians needing to be present then there is plenty of accommodation and space for them to park. You can choose to bring your own catering companies or we can provide catering.

Osea Island’s popularity with writers is owed to its secret and un-spoiled environment that serves as the ideal place to completely focus on creating music. Any of Osea’s buildings can be used to write your next record, but the smaller cottages and apartments scattered around the island are especially suited to writing projects and serve as brilliant creative bases.
There are nine traditional cottages, two large beach houses and six modern apartments all of which provide plenty of space to be used as small writing studios. Bring your own equipment or let us know what you need and we will work out a package.
The cottages and apartments vary in size, age and character. The older cottages, some of which date back to the seventeenth century, are filled with authentic features such as original beams, low ceilings, steep staircases and traditional fire places. They are filled with a combination of antique furniture and modern comforts such as Sky TV. If you thrive off authentic environments then these warm and welcoming homes will be perfect for your project.
Based in a large Edwardian building are the Courtyard Apartments. These contemporary style spacious pads are stylishly furnished and enjoy coastal views and plenty of sunlight. The apartments are perfect for larger groups.
There are also two extremely popular beach houses on Osea Island. These larger bungalows have the beach and sea to the front and private gardens to the rear.
If you want to completely separate your working environment from your accommodation then look into hiring the Summer House, a purpose built writing studio which is annexed to one of the cottages. You can also choose to hire one of the large outbuildings to work in while you stay in a cottage or apartment – a great option for larger groups and ensembles.
Osea Island’s capacity as a writing destination is an especially exciting prospect for large publishing companies looking to organise a ‘writing camp’. The island is capable of accommodating over 100 people so can cater for groups of all sizes.

East Point Studio is at the heart of the island’s musical activity. Based in the magnificent Manor House, entry to the studio is through a secret book case in the billiards room. East Point has been built on the ground floor where you will be spoiled with spectacular views of the estuary and abundant natural light. There are very few UK recording studios that enjoy such a visual backdrop.
The Recording Architecture-designed control room features large windows, dark grey panels and light oak floors and racks. It is aesthetically pleasing on the eye and complements the studio’s tranquil setting.
At the centre of the room is a SSL 4064 E-Series 64-channel console fitted with Black EQs and G-Series computer. Recording is done on a Pro Tools HD3 rig (with Pro Tools HDX coming soon) and there is a great selection of mic-pre’s, compressors, EQs, microphones and other outboard at your disposal.
The studio has two large recording booths. The first is an octagonal shaped turret with windows on all sides. This booth is located to the far right corner of the control room and benefits from a direct line of visibility with the producer/engineer, as well as the views of the sea. The second, slightly smaller booth provides an alternative isolated area for recording, however bands who want to spread out can make use of the library/billiards room which has tie lines to the control room.
East Point has full use of the Manor House and it’s luxurious accommodation. Bands can use the many huge rooms to completely spread out and make their own during a session.
