Hollie Cook’s debut album is desrcribed by her label, Mr. Bongo, as “Tropical Pop”, however the hacks are already leaning towards labeling it one of the freshest reggae albums of the year, thanks to the production of dub maestro Mike Pelanconi, aka. Prince Fatty.
Hollie and Mike recorded and mixed Hollie Cook in Miloco’s The Ironworks recording studio in Brighton in 2010/2011. Released 6th June 2011.

This is a state-of-the-art stereo and surround mastering studio built around a no-compromise philosophy. Your tracks are guaranteed to sound amazing.
Robin uses only the very best equipment available to mastering engineers. The specification includes the Sontec 462 8 band equalizer, Avalon 2077, Manley Vari-MU, Sontec 250 and Tube-Tech SMC2B-M. Point to Point wiring is used throughout the studio.
24-96’s incredible design achieves perfect acoustic linearity. It is also one of the quietest mastering rooms you can find anywhere in Europe. Thanks to the high levels of attention to detail, 24-96 produces an extremely clear sound which helps Robin master hit after hit. The results speak for themselves…
“The best mastering engineer for me at any price is Robin Schmidt at 24-96 Mastering. I have used all the major mastering studios but Robin just nails it every time. Powerful and punchy masters with dynamics and drama intact. Radio 1 are loving his masters with many being playlisted over the last few years. He is also a gentleman and can usually articulate what I want better than I can. I can’t recommend him enough.”
– Mike Crossey (Producer, mixer: Razorlight, Arctic Monkeys, Keane, Blood Red Shoes)
“The mastered mixes sound awesome! We’re all really pleased and excited with what you’re doing..”
– John Leckie (Producer: The Coral, Radiohead, Stone Roses, XTC, Muse)
“Robin, Thanks for this. It sounds MASSIVE. Really punchy and more aggressive than my listening mix. Tighter, snappier all the good words!… I’m very excited by your master. This is without a doubt the most amazing mastering experience I’ve ever encountered. Truly, I’ve never had a service like this, ever. Not even close.”
– Rocky O’Reilly (Producer: And So I Watch You From Afar, In Case Of Fire)
“Managed to listen to the album this week…. sounds great… really good, thanks a lot!”
– Guy Massey (Engineer, Grammy winner: The Beatles, Manic Street Preachers, James Blunt)

Mike Crossey took part in a Miloco producer interview in June 2011 to give an insight into his world of record making. Mike spoke on The Motor Museum recording studio in Liverpool which he has run in partnership with Miloco since 2009; the many high profile bands he has worked with so far in his career including Arctic Monkeys, Blood Red Shoes and Foals; his opinions on producing in the modern day industry and much more. We’ve been itching to get into the mind of this prolific young producer, who has earned his stripes as one of the most popular producers and engineers of his generation. We finally tied him down. This is what happened when Miloco met Mike…
The Seattleite indie veterans return with album number 7, Codes and Keys. This understated quartet have quietly risen to prominence as one of rock’s most innovative bands, over a career so far spanning 15 years.
