The meteoric rise of The Vaccines is outlined by the fact they played their first ever gig and achieved third position on the BBC’s Sound of 2011 poll within 6 months of each other. The anticipated debut album What Did You Expect From The Vaccines was produced by the brilliant Dan Grech-Marguerat, and was recorded at Miloco’s Square studio in Hoxton, East London.
The Vaccines and Dan Grech tracked What Did You Expect From The Vaccines in The Square at the end of 2010.

Miloco is proud to launch Steerpike Studios, the ultimate SSL G series ‘portastudio’.
Steerpike is the studio where location takes control. It has been designed so that it can be packed, flightcased and transported to potentially anywhere in the world, allowing you the freedom to find the perfect place to inspire your project.
Steerpike’s specification is based around an SSL G-series console accompanied by a 64 I/O Pro Tools HD system with an extensive choice of plug-ins. There is also a large collection of outboard gear including some great mic pre’s, and other outboard which are supplemented by a wide choice of microphones.
As for the location – that’s up to you! Country villas, inner-city warehouses, mountain locations or beautiful beaches, the list of possibilities is never-ending….
This is how it works… Miloco will co-ordinate your session from start to finish: packing and loading the studio in its home base in Tuscany, Italy; organising trucks, ferry/plane routes and all insurance documents; and making arrangements for staff, accommodation and any additional requirements such as hires and maintenance work.
Prior to booking a session we will send a technician to your desired location to assess the suitability of the site, and to make sure that the session will run smoothly both technically and logistically. We can then offer any guidance and suggestions necessary to maximise the productivity of your session.
Included in the price of Steerpike is the services of one of our studio assistants, although more then one may be required if heavy scheduling is involved – any additional assistant will incur an extra fee. The rate also includes all equipment listed on the spec page (see left sidebar), which is built around an SSL 4000G 64 Frame with Ultimation, large selection of monitors and ProTools HD4 accel, and which boasts fine selections of Dynamics, Effects, Mic-pre’s and EQ’s, and an excellent array of microphones.
All accommodation, catering and travel costs are not included in the price. Should you require an inhouse engineer on your session, we can arrange for one of the guys from our talented roster of engineers to be present for an additional fee.
Steerpike is now and up and running and available for hire. For all booking enquiries call the Miloco office on 0207-232-0008 or email info@miloco.co.uk.

We have enhanced The Yard’s specification by adding a Chandler TG2 mic-pre to the ever-growing collection of gear at our ‘Mixing-in-the-box’ room in Highbury & Islington.
The Chandler TG2 is a recreation of the rare EMI TG12428 pre amp found in the Abbey Road recording and mastering consoles in the late 60’s and early 70’s. The sound was used on many famous recordings done at Abbey Road including The Beatles’ “Abbey Road” and Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon.”
According to many users of the TG2, the sound benefits from a Neve “warmth” and punch, but with a “nicer” expanded top end.

Our good friend and business partner at The Garden Studios, Craig Silvey, has been acknowledged for his superb work mixing The Arcade Fire’s 2010 album ‘The Suburbs’, as the band scooped the hugely coveted ‘Album of the Year’ award at this year’s Grammys in Los Angeles. The band is on a trail of success across the early year award ceremonies. They won 2 awards at the BRITS: ‘International Album of The Year’ and ‘Best International Band’; and ‘Suburbs’ producer Markus Dravs won ‘Producer of the Year’ – a prize which the BRITS run in conjunction with the Music Producers Guild Awards.
We’d like to congratulate Craig Silvey and everyone involved in the making of The Arcade Fire’s ‘The Suburbs’, and may long the album’s success continue!!
