Space Mountain Residential Overview

Space Mountain serves as a rare and extremely special environment that is wholly conducive to creating amazing work. The inspired vision behind its villa, gardens and recording studio came from years of esoteric research and practice.

Space Mountain is a beautiful and secluded building located on a large estate just outside the mountain village of Albuñuelas, near Granada in the south of Spain. It is set within 40 acres of ancient olive groves and is surrounded by a vast National Park with beautiful forests and breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Here, you can enjoy 300 days of Andalusian sunshine and can ski until April.

The property has been designed in a modern and somewhat unusual Moorish style. Eight bedrooms accommodate up to 16 guests, and there is an additional two-bed / two-bath guesthouse that caters for four. The villa's high ceilings and large windows allow the entire house to enjoy gorgeous Spanish sun all day long.

On entering the estate via a long, steep track you are immediately presented with awe-inspiring views of the Sierra Nevada valley. A Moroccan courtyard leads you into the villa's beautifully furnished lounge with open log fireplace and large windows looking across a veranda to the distant mountain range, and which can be fully opened during the warmer months.

There is an open plan dining area and kitchen adjoined to the lounge where you can enjoy views of the mountains, valleys and Space Mountains private gardens. The dining room also has access to the balcony where guests can eat outside during summer.

Space Mountains stunning landscape gardens are the work of acclaimed designer Andy Sturgeon, whose 2010 Andalusian Garden design, which won the Chelsea Flower Show 'Best In Show' Award that year, hugely influenced the shaping of Space Mountains own grounds.

Sturgeon's incredible design centres the house and studio around a Daoist Pentagram, with each of its five points representing one of the five key elements - Earth, Metal, Fire, Wood and Water. The garden's 'elements' are connected by paths leading in and out of the house, and which form the shape of a pentagram. Guests are encouraged to make use of these various elemental spots that are designed for different purposes, for example, the Earth Point has been conceived to absorb the dark earth elements of inspiration through its cave-like, saturnine garden - the perfect remedy to lift low spirits. You'll find a fire pit at the Fire Point, a water pool at the Water Point and so on, each with their own Daiost significance.

Other features to Space Mountain, both inside and out, contribute to a hugely inspiring experience for guests to savour, such as the outdoor swimming pool, newly-built sauna and Artist's studio. There is also a fully stocked library of books that is accompanied by Youth's personal collection of vinyl.
