The magic of this part of the world is that you can be skiing the slopes in the morning, and catching the rays in the afternoon on one of the hundreds of beaches that line the coast of Andalucia, which is a short drive from Space Mountain.

Local Street Markets

The Albuñuelas weekly street market is held every Thursday morning in the main square in front of the Town Hall in the Upper Barrio. It is not huge, but there are stalls selling vegetables, spices, household items, clothes, shoes and usually roast chickens. There is a much larger street market in the town of Dúrcal every Wednesday morning. There is a bootsale in Almuñecar on the coast every Sunday morning and another in Salobreña the first Saturday of the month.

Alhambra

Granada

The Alhambra palace and fortress is one of the most famous buildings in Andalucia. Located in the nearby city of Granada, its first historical references arose during the war between the Arabs and Muladies in the 800s, and it has been occupied by Moors, Arabs and Christian rulers since. It has been developed into a complex over the centuries which incorporates a Renaissance palace, Muslim court and Moorish fortress. Today it is a museum exhibiting Islamic architecture tthat has influenced many 19th and 20th century interpretations of the building.

El Careto

El Careto is situated on the left as you enter the village of Albuñuelas at the top of the Lower Barrio. It serves drinks and Tapas throughout the day, and has a small lunch menu, but rarely stays open late unless there is a good crowd in.

Lecrin Valley

This is a beautiful restaurant serving Thai food during the evenings. It is open in the evenings from Friday to Sunday, and on Saturday lunchtimes. Call to book a table on 670 587 880.

Los Naranjos (Restaurant/Hostel)

Melegis

One of the nicest places to eat in the valley is Los Naranjos. There is a pleasant shaded terrace with good views of the surroundings, where you can indulge in the menu del dia on weekday lunchtimes. The restaurant is open all day every day except Wednesdays and gets very busy at the weekends.

Bar El Montoro

Bar El Montoro is located on a small square in the Upper Village of Albuñuelas. This small working man´s bar, which serves tapas thorugh the day, bursts with local character and in the summer there are tables outside.

El Meson Tres Lindes

El Meson Tres Lindes is the only real restaurant in Albuñuelas. There is an open fire which makes it the cosiest place to hang out in the winter. The bar serves coffees, drinks and tapas all day and there is a good basic menu served at both lunch and dinner. Lunch in Spain is usually served from 2pm.

Bar El Are

In the main square of Albuñuelas, next to the Town Hall, Bar El Are is open all day and has outside seating in the shade by a fountain. It is run by a lovely young couple who will always make you feel welcome. It primarily serves drinks and great tapas.

Lecrin Valley

Jovi serves great food with a formal restarant downstairs for spcial occasions, and a more informal setting upstairs. They also have a pool table.

Opena ll day, Bar Alequin serves very good tapas. There is a pleasant terrace where you can sit and watch the world go by...

Bar Nuevo

Talara (Lecrin)

This bar/cafeteria is open all day every day except Mondays. They are renowned for their great coffee, excellent tapas, sandwiches, burgers etc. A wide screen TV shows most big matches, and there is also a pool table. A lovely terrace features refreshing sprinklers for those sultry summer nights.

Pub PK2

Talara (Lecrin)

PK2 is a late-night bar/club, which gets particularly busy at weekends when playing good music for dancing. It has a pool table and pleasant conservatory area making it a good all-round bar.
