Over at Drumdrops an excellent vintage kit for the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt 5 has been released. The kit comes with the Drumdrops instrument loaded with great features including a full mixer, control of all five microphones set up around the kit, an eight-channel step sequencer, a MIDI groove player loaded with over 1,300 loops, multiple convolution reverbs and many other features. The kit comes loaded with an incredible 18,000 samples!
The kit was recorded by Timmy Rickard at Miloco’s The Square studio, which was ideal for the sound. Timmy was recreating the Al Jackson Jr drum sound of the 70s, as heard on many an Al Green record. They mic’d these kits using only three or four microphones, set up around the kit in a very dead room. This was recreated at The Square with five ribbon microphones, and you get full control of each mic on each drum and cymbal.
Add to this a tuned-down 60s round badge Gretsch kit which comes with four snares and has recordings of tea towels on toms, wallets on snares plus chains on cymbals and you have the perfect vintage drum sound. This amazing, good-value kit is available for only £45. All Miloco customers can now buy any of the available packs for this kit with an additional 25% off. Just use the voucher code milocogretsch25 at the Drumdrops checkout here. To learn more about this kit head here. To learn about the Kontakt 5 pack click here.

5,000 sq ft New York complex The End is in the heart of Greenpoint, one of Brooklyn’s best artistic areas. The unique facility is designed to serve recording, writing, rehearsal and even photo/video shoots.
The control room showcases a modified MTA 980 console with recording via a powerful Pro Tools|HD 4 system with all the UAD and Waves plugins or two-inch tape for the analogue heads. A clever diffusor at the rear of the studio has been created with a library of books so you can swot up in-between takes.
The live room through the window features a Baldwin baby grand, a great selection of instruments, pedals, amps and not one but three drumkits including a rather lovely vintage 67 Ludwig kit.
To top that off, if you ever need a break from the hard work, head up to the roof where there is a very cool upper deck which features some of the best views over the area of Transmitter Park, the New York City skyline and the East River.

The wow-factor of New York‘s Grand Street Recording is readily apparent in the incredible selection of instruments, which make this an amazing studio choice for musicians.
This studio, in the heart of Brooklyn neighbourhood Williamsburg, is lined with an impressive array of vintage instruments, amplifiers, drumkits, noisemakers, modulators, synthesisers and more. Check out the instrument list here.
Grand Street is a studio that perfectly brings together the vintage analogue goodness of classic Neve and API preamps with the capabilities of modern digital production.
The monitoring is provided by a pair of ATC SCM25As for a full-spectrum view of your mix, and for familiarity a trusty pair of NS10s. Recording utilises an expansive collection of microphones, external mic preamps and compressors straight to a Pro Tools|HD 3 system.

Jazzanova Recording Studio (JRS) is a stylish complex in the centre of Berlin, and the second studio in Germany to join the Miloco group. We are thrilled to have our first Berlin studio on the Miloco books, especially one that is so impressive.
Founder and designer of JRS Axel Reinemer is one of the driving forces behind innovative Berlin-based musical collective Jazzanova. Axel has a great track record in releasing some great jazz dance records, and with his vision to create the perfect recording and mixing environment he is a powerful force to have by your side in the studio.
The studio is stunning. The rare 32-channel Neumann console was custom-built for the Konzerthaus Berlin, and as you would expect from a brand like Neumann it sounds superb. Add to this the top-of-the-range Pro Tools | HDX 2 system plus a collection of retro outboard and you will find everything at your fingertips in the control room.
This studio doesn’t have just one live area but four seperate recording areas, making JRS a fantastic studio for recording bands. Adding other colours to the sound palette at JRS are a great collection of instruments including a Yamaha S6 grand piano and Grosskopf upright piano, the latter of which has featured on Jazzanova recordings.

The generously sized Farringdon/Holborn writing studio in the heart of central London comes equipped with a respectable selection of synths, guitars and amps and a great Audient console at its core.
A sizeable booth to the left of the console can be used to record vocals, and there is an isolation room to the right that is perfect for recording amps.
The studio has a shared kitchenette, a rec room and communal toilets. It can be rented for a minimum of one month at a time.
