New Focusrite ISA428 MkII in The Bridge

Posted on November 9, 2010 by ether

You’ll be excited to hear that we have purchased a new Focusrite ISA428 MkII for The Bridge Studio in London, SE1.

The ISA428 MkII is new to Focusrite’s renowned ISA range of pro audio hardware. It is a premium four-channel mic preamp supporting an optional eight-channel A-D converter.

The ISA428 MkII features four of Focusrite’s classic ISA preamps, originally developed for the legendary Forté console. It supports the same professional eight-channel A-D converter option used with the ISA828. The A-D converter accepts four line inputs in addition to the signals passing through the main channels of the ISA428 MkII, creating eight high-quality digital streams with a superb 122dB dynamic range. Thanks to its convenient 25-pin D-Type connector, the A-D converter option integrates seamlessly with most digital workstations, including Pro Tools HD.

Mirroring the feature set of the original, each ISA428 MkII channel has a variable impedance circuit allowing you to perfectly match the preamp with any microphone, or to use different settings creatively to shape the sound of the microphone. Adjustable high-pass filters as well as phantom power and phase reverse controls are easily accessible on the front panel.

Fearless Vampire Killers, in support of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation

Posted on November 4, 2010 by ether

Just a quick message to continue to spread the good word of London punk band, Fearless Vampire Killers.

The band are giving away an MP3 and video of their new record ‘Palace In Flames’, to people who buy a S.O.P.H.I.E. wristband, with all profits going to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.

The foundation was set up after the tragic murder of Sophie Lancaster in 2007, after she was attacked by a group of youths provoked by their prejudice towards Sophie’s, and boyfriend Robert Maltby’s alternative fashion sense.

Set up by Sylvia Lancaster, Sophie’s mother, the aims and objectives of the Charity are as follows:
• To create a lasting legacy to Sophie.
• To provide educational group-works that will challenge the prejudice and intolerance towards people from alternative subcultures.
• To campaign to have the UK Hate Crime legislation extended to include people from “alternative subcultures” or “Lifestyle and Dress”.

To download the the MP3 and video of the single, please follow this link:

Many thanks!

Introducing The Red Room – ‘Vive La Différence!’

Posted on November 1, 2010 by ether

As the cold winter nights roll in, we thought wouldn’t be nice to head a little further south towards the equator – and that’s exactly what we’ve done..!!

This November we are thrilled to announce another groundbreaking new studio launch at Miloco. We have joined forces with producer / mixers Philippe Weiss and Jean-Francois Delort to run their incredible Paris-based SSL mix room, The Red Room. This hugely exciting new mix room sees Miloco Studios set foot in France for the very first time.

The Red Room is one of Paris’ great mix rooms. Philippe and Jean-Francois have created a world class mix environment designed to fully optimise your mixes to sound nothing less than incredible. The centre-piece of the studio is an SSL 4056 G+ console, featuring 24 E-Series and 32 G-Series EQs, and which has been modified to really push the boundaries of your mix. The desk is complemented by a custom TAD monitor system and an assortment of other speakers, and there are racks of top-end analogue outboard to choose from. A live room comprising a good collection of microphones is also on hand for those who may wish to track.

The Red Room epitomises the no-expense spared ethos. Everything has been designed to produce the highest quality sound: from having the best acoustics to the shortest cabling. The interior design is cool, modern and clean creating an enticing and inspiring vibe. It features a red decor, atmospheric lighting and plenty of personal touches such as Philippe and Jean-Francois’ enormous collection of vinyl.

This amazing studio is the very first in France to be operated by Miloco. Located in Suresnes, a Western suburb of Paris, you have all the attractions of one of the great world cities on your doorstep. The Red Room offers Miloco’s clients a whole new studio experience… Vive la différence!!

The much hyped debut solo effort from Carl Barat has arrived. The Libertine and former Dirty Pretty Things frontman takes a new angle on his new material, moving away from the quintessential indie rock of his previous bands to a more complex singer-songwriter feel with plenty of strings brass arrangements.

Carl Barat was recorded in The Square in 2010 by producer Leo Abrahams and Interface engineer Oliver Wright.

Incredible new Engine Room rates @ £300 / day for 5 day bookings!!

Posted on October 15, 2010 by ether

Here’s some really big news! We have lowered our book rate in The Engine Room to £350.00 / day, and an even more incredible £300.00 / day for bookings of 5 days or more. Here’s your chance to get into a world class mix room for some seriously competitive rates!!

Just a quick reminder of the changes that took place in our flagship mix room this summer…

In July we rescued the infamous SSL4056 G-Series console from Olympic’s Studio 2 and after completely refurbishing it, made it the centrepiece of The Engine room. The desk has been loaded with 48 mono channels (36 G EQ and 12 blackface E EQ) and 8 stereo channels making it a flexible mixing tool. The desk is joined by our celebrated monitoring system consisting of customised Munro M4s running off chevin amplification and which are regularly checked and calibrated by acoustician Nick Whitaker. In addition to the Massenberg, Tubetech, EAR, Summit, and Urei names, we have recently added some of the best newcomers, including Empirical Labs, Manley, and EMI Chandler, to enhance an already fantastic selection of quality ourboard.

The room has a history of delivering hit records including Oasis’ What’s The Morning Glory and Be Here Now, all the Chemical Brothers albums, Slipknot’s 2008 no.1 U.S. album All Hope Is Gone and more recently the Mercury-nominated Villagers album Becoming A Jackal. It is also a favourite of a variety of producer / mixers including Ben Hillier, Phill Brown, Colin Richardson, Mike Crossey and Steve Dub.
