Congratulations to Brett Shaw over at 123 Studios in Shoreditch who has scored his first number one single by recording the vocals on Clean Bandit’s “Rather Be” featuring Jess Glynn. Debuting at number one on the UK charts and a non-mover in its second week, “Rather Be” is the fastest selling UK single so far in 2014, and the fastest selling January single since Babylon Zoo’s ‘Spaceman’. Remember that one?
Co-written by Clean Bandit and Jimmy Napes of Disclosure, the track features a compelling mix of deep house and classical music samples, a ‘baroque pop’ for 2014 if you like, or just simply ‘classical-dance’. A simple but very effective foot-tapper that we’ll be hearing for many months to come. Check out the video below…

This epic space, which leading UK producer Paul Epworth is reopening in 2014, is being transformed into London’s most exciting new recording studio complex in years, and last weekend we moved into the main recording room a very special piece of kit.
Introducing London’s only vintage EMI Neve console. Comprised of two halves – one which once lived in Abbey Road and recorded hits such as ‘Wish You Were Here’ by Pink Floyd, and the other from the famous Pathe Marconi studio in Paris – this is one hell of a desk. Under the guidance of Neve tech maestro Blake Devitt, we have spent the last seven days commissioning this stunning EMI Neve which has taken centre stage in what will be The Church’s main recording room – The Church Studios 1.
The installation of this classic vintage EMI Neve console is just one of many amazing developments taking place during the rebuild of The Church. You can keep up with all progress being made at this incredible London recording studio on churchstudios.tumblr.com.

Tom has purchased a Korg MS-20 Mini, an amazing sounding re-model of Korg’s classic MS-20 monophonic synthesiser, reproducing that authentic analogue synth sound in a body shrunk to 86% of the original’s size, but still flaunting that vintage MS-20 look.
The MS-20 Mini is the latest addition to an ever-expanding collection of analogue synths and backline at this great recording and writing studio based at the Tileyard Studio complex in Kings Cross. Find out more on The Cabin at www.miloco.co.uk/cabin.

The good news for anyone in this part of town is that we have just partnered with writer/producer Paul Draper (ex-Mansun) at his studio, The Kitchen, which is based in the same building as Sofa Sound on the Chiswick/Acton border.
The Kitchen is now available for producers, writers, artists, engineers and musicians to use when Paul isn’t in there working on his own projects. This is the perfec west London recording studio for writing, over-dubbing, editing, vocal recording and programming.
Fitted out with an excellent Pro Tools rig and a comprehensive list of classic outboard gear, vintage guitars and amplifiers, as well as virtual instruments, the room offers a fantastic experience for a large range of projects. Paul’s collection of classic guitars and guitar amps are a particular highlight on his spec.
The studio is based in the vibrant Stanley House, which is where Hugh Padgham’s beautiful SSL recording and mix studio, Sofa Sound is based, as well ten production rooms, a large kitchen and lounge area and a roof terrace with views across west London. The cosmopolitan Chiswick High Road is a short walk south of the Studio, and central London is not far on public transport. Stanley House provides a secure car park for tenants.
All the information you need on The Kitchen is now live on the Miloco site. Find out more at www.miloco.co.uk/kitchen and contact bookings@miloco.co.uk for all enquiries.

We’ve got everything covered in the capital – studios North, East, South and West for all projects and budgets.
Of course with all of our many recording studios in London comes a fantastic array of recording and mixing consoles: the highest-end Neve and SSL desks; rare, vintage boards with rich histories of their own; as well as some great desks for writing and smaller scale projects, such as the acclaimed Audient series of consoles.
Here we are giving you a rundown of 20 different consoles we provide across 20 London recording studios…
123 Studios in Shoreditch, London offers this SSL X desk with the SSL X-panda desk expansion.

The Bridge Writing Studio in London, SE1 boasts this great Audient ASP4816 console in its luxurious control room.
We have an Audient Zen 16MPMF with Mic Pre’s and moving faders in The Bunker programming studio in London’s Bermondsey. A great little desk for the smaller space.

Producer Ben Hillier picked up this rare EMT A100 30 Channel desk in Germany and drove it back to The Pool recording studio in London where it now resides.
Legendary producer Hugh Padgham has long been associated with SSL, so it makes perfect sense for this beautiful SSL 4064G+ 64 channel console to live at his Sofa Sound recording studio in West London.
The less common SSL 4044 E Series console at Soho Sound Kitchen, a new 5.1 recording studio based in Kings Cross, London.
The original Miloco studio in Hoxton, The Square has had many desks over the years. It currently houses one of the early Olympic Studios SSL G Series desks.
A real gem – the vintage Neve 8026 console at producer Craig silvey’s Toast Studios in Ladbroke Grove, West London. It contains 24 vintage Neve Mic Pre’s/EQs and has recorded the likes of Nirvana, Neil Young and REM in its long history.
They pop up all over Miloco’s London recording studios, mainly because they are so darn popular! Here’s another SSL 4048 G Series console with G+ computer which lives at Westpoint Studios in West London.
Lastly, something completely different – the Digidesign C24 Control Surface at The Yard, a specialist Live Mixing Studio in Highbury run in partnership between Miloco and DMZ Live.

Why don’t you head on over there to check it out…. www.miloco.co.uk/square.
