La Chapelle are now running on Pro Tools HDX 10

Posted on June 19, 2015 by Georgie Koch

It has been seven months since La Chapelle installed a completely new Avid Pro Tools HDX system, but the studio have been so busy they haven’t had the time to tell you about it. La Chapelle are now running faster than ever on Pro Tools 10.3.9.

And if you should ever get bored of all their analogue outboard gear – something the studio highly doubt – they also recently added the Soundtoys suite to their plugins.

EastWest now on the Miloco website

Posted on June 17, 2015 by Georgie Koch

We’re pleased to be representing the amazing EastWest Studios, located in the heart of Hollywood. This recording complex is one of the best in the world.

Studio 1 features the 80-channel Neve 8078 console that was commissioned for Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ album. Studio 2 (a rock room with a drum booth) also offers a Neve console in the form of a 40-channel RCA Custom 8028, one of only two built with discrete Class-A electronics.

The most famous of EastWest’s rooms is Studio 3, which delivered the ‘Pet Sounds’ album by The Beach Boys in 1966 and comes with one of the six surviving Trident A-Range consoles (40 channels with Neve flying fader automation). Studio 5 comes with the largest control room in the building and features a 64-channel SSL 4000 G+ with Ultimation.

Miloco is now booking One Two Pass It, the third Parisian recording studio in our directory. Equipped with a Neve VR console and top-quality microphones, the recording and mixing studio is an extraordinary Paris space.

The live room was built with drums in mind, and its acoustics are adjustable through the use of some clever acoustic panels completed by the same designer as fellow French studio La Fabrique. The drumkits offered at One Two Pass It include a Ludwig Club Date, a Think Drums custom acrylic set and a Yamaha  Absolute Maple custom kit.

Valley Recording Company and Miloco team up in Los Angeles

Posted on June 12, 2015 by Georgie Koch

Miloco have added one new studio to our Los Angeles directory with Valley Recording Company (VRC) in Burbank. The partnership is the third studio for our Los Angeles directory.

VRC, ‘the last rock’n’roll studio in LA’, is a cool, vibey facility housing two completely different studios. The two resident producer/engineers Joe Cardamone and Greg Gordon focussed on live instruments while designing the complex in 2012, so VRC is definitely a place for bands to get a high-quality recording.

The edges of the Studio A control room are lined with outboard and guitars, but the central focus is an API 1608 console. Studio A offers the largest of VRC’s live rooms, an incredible drum room with 17-foot ceilings that bend down to create a unique sound all of its own.

The Studio B live room is where you set up a drumkit to get that tight 70s booth sound, while one of the central control room features is a Chandler Limited Mini Rack Mixer.

Joe Cardamone and Greg Gordon have years of experience making records. Joe is the singer/songwriter/band leader of rock group The Icarus Line and Greg has engineered and mixed records for Jet, Oasis, Marilyn Manson, Slayer and LL Cool J.

New Italian studio in Miloco directory

Posted on June 11, 2015 by Georgie Koch

With three studios and numerous booths, Milan’s Art&Music Recording is one of the best recording facilities in Italy, and our latest partner in the country. The construction and versatility of the complex is particularly impressive, with perfectly insulated rooms for each service (recording, editing, mixing, post-production, mastering).

Studio A (the largest of the three studios) and Studio B contain SSL Duality consoles, while the latter is able to mix in Dolby Surround 5.1, 6.1, 7.2, DTS stereo and stereo. Studio C, perfect for pre-production, has been equipped with the same acoustic properties as Studio A and Studio B, and the recording areas are able to accommodate up to 50 musicians simultaneously.

Foals have spoken to Q Magazine about working on their fourth album, which was recorded at La Fabrique, a French residential studio in the Miloco directory.

Spending two months in the south of France was “really fucking nice,” notes guitarist Jimmy Smith. “We drank about 130 bottles of this red wine called Ardèche.”
