Stephen Street talks Blur single ‘Go Out’

Posted on May 1, 2015 by Georgie Koch

Miloco partner Stephen Street was involved in making the new Blur LP ‘The Magic Whip’.

The first single, ‘Go Out’, was initially recorded in a small studio in Hong Kong that the band used whilst on tour in 2013. Blur had a show date cancelled and five spare days in Hong Kong, so they decided to go into the studio and jam on some ideas. The original multitrack contained drums recorded on two tracks, bass, one guitar overdub, some keys and a guide vocal, all recorded live.

Late last year, Stephen (who is managed by Gotham Producers) worked on the material in his Miloco-managed studio The Bunker.

Graham used Stephen’s Fender guitars and a Vox AC15 amp that is in The Bunker. Stephen recorded the guitar using two microphones: a Sontronics Delta ribbon mic and a Shure SM57. Finally, vocals were recorded at Blur founder Damon Albarn’s Studio 13 in west London in January of this year.
