It’s no secret we love recording studios – even better are the ones you can sleep in so you never have to leave. Which means we were beyond excited to launch the page for the stunning elstudio on our site this week.
Located in the lush green hills of Santa Teresa in Costa Rica, elstudio is the type of residential recording facility that dreams are made of. Designed to cater to artists, bands and various kinds of productions elstudio is perfect for those who require an exclusive, private environment for writing, recording, mixing, rehearsing and pre/post-production.
The recording studio consists of three main rooms. A live room (35sqm), control room (25sqm) and a small booth (3sqm) all of which were designed by George Augspurger. Artists can simply fly in and rehearse, write or do pre production for an upcoming album or tour. There is a full backline available, and if clients require any specific instruments that are not currently on site, elstudio can arrange for these at short notice.
Between sessions artists can take a dip in the private swimming pool, enjoy the warm currents of the sparkling Pacific Ocean, just 800 m away, drink a fresh fruit smoothie on the beach, read in a hammock, have a surf lesson or take a yoga class. Is this a recording studio or a luxury resort? Well we say it’s both.
The onsite accommodation in the villa has room to accommodate 10 people, including a private apartment on top of the studio. Going the extra mile, the elstudio team can arrange the full itinerary for visiting clients: lockout studio, in-house engineer, lodging, catering, shuttles, local transport (ATV/Car rental), surf lessons, tours, fishing trips, etc… If that weren’t enough they can provide on-site Spa service and world class catering upon request.
We don’t think may people will need much convincing to explore the full elstudio page, and if you think Costa Rica sounds like a great destination to work on your next project, contact our bookings team to enquire about rates and dates.
Posted in Uncategorized |A studio that needs little introduction, the legendary Hansa Studios has joined the Miloco Studios global directory of recording studios. The Berlin studio powerhouse has been in operation for over 50 years, and has recorded the likes of David Bowie, U2, R.E.M., Manic Street Preachers, and many more.
Hansa Studios is most definitely one of the world’s finest facilities, with all the latest mod cons and top quality gear. Modern technology combine with old school charm here, with the studio retaining its classic 1970s layout, with a large control room, 200sqm live room, booth and marble drum room, which is – you guessed it – clad in marble (Italian, of course.) This gives it exceptional acoustics and is ideal for drum or amp recording with direct visual contact to all rooms.
The control room is centred around a classic 56-Channel SSL E Series console and a Pro Tools HD system, and no less than 5 Studio tape machines. There is an acredible array of outboard on display including studio stallwarts such as 1176s, an LA-2A and an EMT 156. The live room is packed with instruments such as the stunning Steinway Model B, Hammond, Rhodes, Clavinet and a host of backline. The mic list includes a valve Neumann U47 and U67, and other rarities such as a Gefell UM7 and Neumann S2c.
Needless to say we’d recommend not wasting any time in exploring the full studio page, including gear, floorplan and pictures that will make you green with envy. Enquire with our team about rates and session bookings.

Posted in Uncategorized |We have the privilege of representing hundreds of the world’s most incredible recording studios, and it’s safe to say few things excite us more than launching a special new studio on our site. This week we want to introduce you to Brazil’s Sonastério Recording Studio.
As well as being state of the art, this studio IS art. Situated in the Minas Gerais mountains, Sonastério was designed as a collaboration between Joao Diniz Architecture and the world-renowned acoustic architecture design firm WSDG (Walters-Storky Design Group), who have worked on many of our partner studios, including The Church.
With sweeping views that will take your breath away, the building was designed to be the most creative and inspiring setting for musicians to record. Sonastério believe music enlightens and so go to great lengths to provide artists a space that fosters excellence and helps guide them in their constant search to let their creative minds shine.
Bringing Joao Diniz and WSDG together, they worked to ensure that every square foot was designed with acoustics in mind, creating the most incredible sound. The 1500sq ft studio has 20 foot high ceilings and is centred around an AWS 924 console, combining classic SSL analogue technology with full DAW control.
The live room features custom ceiling clouds for absorption, a separate iso booth, pro lighting rig for video shoots and impossible to beat views through floor to ceiling glass windows.
The control room, as well as featuring an SSL console, is home to Augspurger Duo8 speakers with 12″ subwoofers, a solid collection of outboard gear, and an impeccable systems integration by Ground Control.
As a destination studio of this level of quality, it is only natural that Sonastério has gorgeous on-site accommodation comprising of three guest bedrooms and five star amenities, which is every bit as good as it looks.

Recently we had the crew from TV programme The Horne Section join us in The Pool and The Red Room London to work on the music for their comedy variety show.
The Pool’s in house engineer Jamie McEvoy was on hand to engineer the part recorded in The Pool, and was called upon to mix all the live music from the show. Last year Jamie and Dan Moyler between them engineered The Horne Section podcast, and recorded cut away skits from the group’s sold out show at the Palladium, assisted by Ben Sorab and Claude Vause.
The Horne Section are a comedy Jazz band lead by stand up comedian and creator of Taskmaster, Alex Horne. He is joined by a band of trained jazz musicians, including saxophonist Mark Brown (who plays with Robbie Williams) and trumpeter Joe Auckland who is currently touring with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
If you weren’t able to make it to the Miloco Gear Pro Audio Showcase earlier this month, never fear because we captured a highlight reel for your enjoyment.
Stay tuned to our monthly newsletter and social media to be the first to know about the next event we put on at our Miloco Studios HQ.
