Oxygen Recording Studios, the beautiful Italian residential studio, has just had a serious injection of new equipment!
Firstly, the rig has been upgraded to a brand new Mac Pro Xeon E5 Quad-core (pictured below), with a Lync Aurora 16 HD interface, an Apogee Big Ben master clock, Pro Tools 12 software and a load of new plugins. Having traditionally been centred around the stunning Ampex MM1200 tape machine, the studio is now ready to work completely in Pro Tools. The Ampex stays of course, for those still looking for an analogue recording experience!

The monitoring has also had a serious upgrade with a pair of Avantgarde Solo monitors with 231 Sub. New outboard purchases include a couple of Altec 16128s and a pair of DBX 160 compressors. The star of the show however must be the vintage Neumann valve U47 microphone. That along with a pair of Coles 4038s, Royer R-121, beyer M380, Sennheiser 409, Nevation MC48, and a pair of AKG C414 B-ULSs have really bolstered the mic list.
Last but not least there is a new Gem Deluxe 50R guitar amp (pictured below), adding to the already impressive selection of backline at the studio.

Posted in Uncategorized |Sprinkling some magic into January, we have added an incredible new partner studio to our USA directory with Make Believe Studios!
Make Believe is a spacious 3800 sq. ft. studio facility in the heart of Omaha, Nebraska, in America’s midwest, owned and run by engineers Rick Carson and Jeremy Deaton. The three studio rooms have all been designed by Rod Gervais, who placed an emphasis on “concept, implementation and execution.”

The studio as a whole is made up of the large live room of Studio B, complete with isolation booth and an API control room, Studio C‘s SSL room, ideal for tracking and mixing, and the smaller production suite of Studio D, which includes identical monitoring to that of Studio C. Take a virtual tour of the rooms with this interactive floorplan.

In addition to these three incredible rooms, the studio offers a vast collection of vintage outboard gear and new and vintage synths. Knowing how every project has it’s own set of challenges, from an equipment standpoint Make Believe Studios was designed to be as flexible as possible. All three studios are equipped to track and monitor between rooms and most of the outboard gear lives in mobile racks that can be used interchangeably between all three studios. Browse through the rest of the impressive equipment lists for each studio and the equipment closet here.

Peckham’s finest recording studio, 123 Studios, has just had a huge update to its equipment list. First and foremost, the control room is now centred around an incredible cut down 24-channel SSL 6k E-Series console. The 6000 E consoles are a real rarity, with three mix busses and the classic E-Series sound that changed mixing forever.
The monitoring has also had a major upgrade, with a pair of ATC SCM50 monitors. ATC have long been at the forefront of studio monitor technology and these three-way monitors with soft-dome mid drivers sound absolutely incredible.

Furthermore, the outboard at 123 has been bolstered with Chandler TG1, Curvebender and Little Devil EQ units, a Urei 1176, 1178 and LA2, API 550 and 560 EQs and 2500 compressor, and a Harrison EQ. And that’s not it, there’s a new Flea 47 and Bock Ifet microphones and a Zod bass DI.
Last but not least, there’s a new Lavry Gold convertor to ensure all this superb new analogue gear is converted at the highest possible quality! Explore the studios full equipment list here.

Posted in Uncategorized |At the end of last year, we took delivery of a stunning Mellotron 4000D at Livingston Studios, the digital keyboard featuring 100 original Mellotron and Chamberlin sounds based on the legendary M400 model from the 1970s.
With the 4000D model the Mellotron has well and truly been brought into the digital age, and in the few short years since its introduction it’s fast become a hugely popular and sought-after piece of kit. Users include the likes of Bruno Mars, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Noel Gallagher and Foo Fighters.

The uncompressed 24bit audio files sound incredible, and the expansive library combined with the nifty ability to blend the Mellotron and Chamberlin samples together makes this a hugely versatile instrument. Beat the two-month waiting list and come and have a play!

Posted in Uncategorized |A Sharp Recording Studios in sunny Sydney has got us wanting to pack our bags and whisk off to down under. Our newest Australian partner studio was opened in the 1970s, before being totally refurbished in late 2014, and holds the title of the oldest independent recording studio in Sydney.

The studio complex features designer working space, incredible acoustics and enhanced equipment specs, accompanied by an impressive list of mics, outboard, SSL AWS948 and impeccable monitoring. Posted in Uncategorized |We are very excited to reveal that we have recently completed a cosmetic, acoustic and equipment upgrade in our flagship Orinoco Complex writing studio, The Bridge, in London’s SE1.

At the centre of the room is a brand new 24 channel Audient ASP8024 Heritage Edition console. The Audient console is a great console for the writing room, offering clean sound with a retro touch and plenty of routing flexibility. Miloco Gear will be demoing the new Audient console to prospective clients.
We want to say a big thanks to Audient for the help in installing this beauty of a console. On top of the console we have also improved the monitoring with a significant upgrade. Firstly, we added bass absorption in the rear and front of the room. This has helped deaden the control room but also tightened up the bottom end response.

Just to make sure that the sound is truly great in there, we have installed a pair of Augspurger Solo-12 mid range monitors with two 12” subs. Like all the Augspurger speakers we have installed in many of our rooms, they sound incredible! They really have perfect stereo imaging, plenty of power and accurate response. Once again these can be demod with an option to purchase through Miloco Gear.
Finally, a Miloco room would not be complete without our signature Hue lighting system. You can control the lighting of The Bridge to suit your mood, and all from your phone. Any colour, any brightness, with endless combinations to choose from!
We didn’t think this writing room could get any better, but it did! Book now or come and check it out by calling +44 (0) 207 232 0008 or emailing bookings@miloco.co.uk

Miloco has welcomed another fabulous location to our directory of UK recording studios this week with The Cold Stores.
The family-run studio is a state of the art writing, recording and rehearsal complex located in the heart of the Kent countryside. Comprised of Studios A and B, Studio A has a large live room, drum room, and is complete with control room and a vocal/live booth. It can comfortably cater for large bands, choirs and small orchestras. Studio B has a smaller live room, control room and vocal booth, perfect for recording small bands. The complex also features a large recreation room and a modern kitchen for artists to take a break and relax between takes.

Owners Clive and Sue Thomas acquired the former apple store and went to great lengths to design and build the fully floating, acoustically treated studio complex inside, and recruit a fantastic young team of talented engineers and producers for recording and mixing.
Located just 40 minutes from London it is the perfect recording retreat within easy reach of the city, where clients can relax and focus on their projects. Secure on site parking and disability access/toilet facilities make The Cold Stores easily accessible for all clients.

The meticulous attention to detail has resulted in a fantastic family run studio complex which takes pride in producing impeccable quality recording and providing top of the line services, which includes equipment hire and catering, and can be arranged at an extra cost.
Though a relatively young studio, The Cold Stores has already had the pleasure of hosting artists such as Jeff Beck, Pino Palladino and Olly Murs to record.
