Paul Epworth wins MPG Producer Of The Year

Posted on February 17, 2017 by Georgie Koch

Not one, not two, but FOUR. That’s the number of times Paul Epworth has now taken out the top honour of Producer of The Year at the annual MPG Awards.

The 2017 awards ceremony took place earlier this week at London’s Grosvenor Place saw the music industry’s best and brightest gather to honour some of the best work to come out of the UK this year.

Having won Producer of The Year in 2010, 2013 and 2015, Paul was nominated this time around for his work with Adele, The Stone Roses and Usher, at his north London studio complex The Church Studios.

Always humble, on accepting the award Paul said, “I’m a dreadful musician…but I’m not afraid to try.” It could be this attitude that has allowed him to work with some of the world’s biggest artists, such as Florence + The Machine, U2, Kanye West, Lorde, Maroon 5, and many more. Explore his full discography here.

As a mentor to many young producers and engineers, Paul shared the limelight on the night with his engineer, Miloco’s Matt Wiggins.

Make Believe is a spacious 3800 sq. ft. studio facility in the heart of Omaha, Nebraska, in America’s midwest, owned and run by engineers Rick Carson and Jeremy Deaton. The three studio rooms have all been designed by Rod Gervais, who placed an emphasis on “concept, implementation and execution.”

New Mellotron arrives at Livingston 1

Posted on January 12, 2017 by Georgie Koch

At the end of last year, we took delivery of a stunning Mellotron 4000D at Livingston Studios, the digital keyboard featuring 100 original Mellotron and Chamberlin sounds based on the legendary M400 model from the 1970s.

With the 4000D model the Mellotron has well and truly been brought into the digital age, and in the few short years since its introduction it’s fast become a hugely popular and sought-after piece of kit. Users include the likes of Bruno Mars, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Noel Gallagher and Foo Fighters.

The uncompressed 24bit audio files sound incredible, and the expansive library combined with the nifty ability to blend the Mellotron and Chamberlin samples together makes this a hugely versatile instrument. Beat the two-month waiting list and come and have a play!
